The International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC) continues their unique Full Circle Doula Training Program nationwide. This program is grounded in the legacy of the African America midwife and public health, and its’ commitment to empower women of color in an increased effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality and increase positive birth outcomes in the black community.
Since 2007 ICTC has trained over 300 doulas, 85% being women of color. They have continued their trainings since; strengthening the number of black doulas and doulas of color around the world.
Outside Oregon, ICTC has over 12 state and regional representatives working hard to spread the word about the healthy family and baby initiative and now with the support of five new state representatives in MO, MI, DC IL, and SC and a new Southeast Regional Representative who are well versed in the areas of midwifery, doulas and overall health, we have strengthen our agenda of reducing maternal and infant mortality and promoting breastfeeding rates in the African American community. A list with your State and Regional Representatives can be found at www.ictcmidwives.org.
