In Search of a Chocolate Advent Calendar

c&LadventLast year we ended up getting a Charlie and Lola Advent calendar. It was cute and the girl loved it, but didn’t have chocolate in it.  Not that big of a deal, but it’s such a classic tradition! My only concern with the chocolate Advents was whether they were made  in China, the possibility  of it containing a concoction of chemicals and whether or not they’d been recalled. Seems as if all of the ones I came across were.

So,this year, as December approached, I searched everywhere for a chocolate Advent calendar that wasn’t made in China. Finally, I found some at the Vermont Christmas Company. The chocolate tastes good, the designs are traditional and classic, and best of all-they aren’t made in China! They’re actually made in Canada for the company.

In addition to chocolate Advents, they also have regular paper, cloth and wood Advents for Christmas and even Halloween.

xmasadvent This is the one we decided on. Delicious and traditional, it also features the story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Whether or not you actually celebrate the Advent, these calendars are a fun way to celebrate the season with the kids.

For those of you who celebrate it, is an Advent calendar a part of your Christmas tradition ? Do you have any other special traditions?
