Who should attend The Great Cloth Diaper Change and why?

Anyone that is even remotely interested in learning what modern cloth diapers is all about, or currently uses cloth diapers, should join in the 2012 Great Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC)! This event is a great way to increase awareness about cloth diapering.

GCDC brings caregivers of all kinds together no matter the reasons they chose to use cloth diapers. Some parents use cloth to save thousands of dollars over the diapering life of their children. Some parents use cloth because their baby has skin that is sensitive to the chemicals in disposable diapers. Some parents are choosing to use cloth to prevent the 6,000 disposable diapers (used in the first two years of baby’s life) from going into landfills. And still other parents choose cloth in order to attempt to live as chemical free as possible. There are any number of reasons, and combination of reasons, to choose to diaper your child in 100% reusable cloth diapers. GCDC and Real Diaper Week highlight all of these reasons and helps to spread the word about cloth to those that are unaware of their diapering options.

Even if you currently use disposable diapers, you are welcome to join one of the many GCDC locations that are loaning out cloth diapers for the official change. This is a great opportunity to meet the many other parents in your community that have experience with cloth diapers and can support you in doing so. Do you have a local cloth diaper circle leader in your area? I’m sure you will meet them at your GCDC event. The Real Diaper Association‘s Cloth Diaper Circle Leaders, cloth diaper retailers, manufacturers, services, and other cloth diapering parents are all great resources to learn what you need to get started with cloth diapering and many of them will be at your fingertips for GCDC!

If you are a parent that currently uses cloth diapers, don’t miss this event! By attending GCDC, you are thanking all those that helped you on your cloth diapering journey. You are joining a wonderful group of parents and caregivers who are taking a moment (at many different times across the globe) to give a giant metaphorical hug to the retailers, manufacturers, laundering services, the work-at-home-diaper-sewing-moms, the cloth diaper bloggers, the fluffy mail delivery people, the cloth diaper advocates, and THE EARTH for giving us the cloth diapers that fluff our favorite bottoms and give us peace of mind.

If you want to join in the giant metaphorical hug but are somehow unable to attend the GCDC event nearest you, then please consider sending a monetary thank you by joining the RDA as a member for $25 a year HERE and/or by joining Heather Mcnamara’s pledge to sponsor every 1,000 diapers changed at GCDC with a cash donation HERE.
