Last week, we worked with Apologize, Forgive, Release. I hope those who wrote in felt lighter after sharing; thank you for your contributions! One L.O.V.E. Parenting Technique CD is on its way to Sara.
This week we celebrate what is working well with and clarify our intentions for how we’d like things to be with an exercise called: Celebrate, Welcome, Intend. You can do the exercise as a written entry in a journal set aside for this purpose, or you can do this as a spoken exercise. This exercise involves stringing a series of sentences together; first, “I celebrate,” next, “I welcome,” and finally, “I intend.”
Start with celebration. Think about the areas of success with your children. Remember moments of connection, and perfect alignment. Maybe everyone went to sleep easily, maybe the morning went down without a hitch, maybe you had a fulfilling weekend together, maybe your partner parented in a way that made you smile, maybe your daughter nurses with perfect contentment, or maybe you’re making time for precious cuddles everynight.
Inhale, and starting with celebration, begin to say or write: “I celebrate…”
Next, we work with welcoming. You may welcome all aspects of your children, the struggles and the joy, and all aspects of yourself. You may welcome change. You may welcome the full gamut of the experience of parenting. Begin now, “I welcome…”
Lastly, we work with intension. Think about what you actively want to bring into your life with your children. Think about your best life, a life where you are joyous, in tune, and thriving. Think about your mornings, afternoons and evenings and imagine things working the best way they could. Begin now, “I intend…”
Do this process of Celebrate, Welcome , Intend each evening, or at least once a week. Take the time to recognize all the joy and connection with your family, reach for more and live in gratitude.
Mothering Mommas: try out some “Celebrate, Welcome, Intend” statements in the comments section. I will put the names in a hat and pick one and send that person a complimentary L.O.V.E. Parenting Technique CD: Technique, Affirmation & Visualization. It contains a guided meditation, tools, techniques, affirmations and visualizations. www.LoveParentingLA.com.
