Feeding Your Children Part II: Creating The Vision

This is the second post in a series dedicated to the topic of feeding your children. The first step had to do with identifying your own relationship to food, historically and at present, and becoming clear about what beliefs around food you wish to pass on, and what information you may be presenting unconsciously. Read more by clicking HERE.

Once you have done your own emotional clearing, you are ready to create the vision for your children’s experience with food. During an uninterrupted moment, sit and quiet your mind with some deep and even breaths.

Next, give thanks aloud or with your mind for the ability to think clearly about food and for the willingness to try and give your children a balanced and harmonious relationship to feeding their body.

Now, begin to visualize the experience of food in your household. See yourselves choosing to grow at least one kitchen item; visualize buying the seeds, connecting with soil either in a pot or on the earth, and tending to this direct experience of growing your own food.

Next, visualize yourself marketing with a feeling of ease, fluidity and abundance. Picture your children with you, helpful and engaged.

Go further in your mind’s eye to imagine yourselves at home, preparing new and favorite recipes, foods for on-the-go, many courses for a long sit-down, juices, smoothies, salads, fruits, baked goods, savory meals, and wholesome sweet creations.

Finally, picture your family sitting at your dinner table, talking, laughing and eating with true enjoyment. Visualize the meal through to it’s end without one conversation about who is eating what or how much anyone has eaten. Visualize each member of your family choosing each bite because they are in total alignment with their own body’s natural instincts of health, balance and restoration.

End this visualization with a quiet mind and three breaths.

Enjoy visioning and stay tuned for Feeding Your Children Part III.

I use a lot of visualization while preparing for childbirth and it has always gone really well for me... I never considered using it in other aspects of my life... I think I'll give it a try!!!! .-= Eve´s last blog ..Lets go Couponing!!! =-.
I love love love did I mention L.O.V.E. the visualization model. I remember learning to surf and visualizing and how much better I did. Same with yoga poses. And, I should mention, we have really or I need to say I have gotten lazy about the all of us around the table at night together for dinner. Sometimes it's easy to just say come and get it and you sit here, and honey I'll bring you yours at the computer/garage/outside... Thank you for the reminder of how we *want* to live. Dear Eve, I am so glad to plant the seed for you. I was first introduced to visualization by my high school swim coach in preparing for a race...I have applied it to many areas of my life and it is very helpful in parenting. It is also helpful to share the vision with the children. All the best, Jessica
Dear Connor, I am so glad it was timely for you! Enjoy the round table...Love, Jessica
