Hello, I was just at my daughter's pediatrician getting her seasonal flu vaccine. I am generally cautious with vaccines and am following a delayed schedule, close to what Dr. Sears recommends in his book. I would be inclined not to get the flu vax for her at all, but we live in NJ and it is law here that anyone in daycare (which she is 2 days a week) and is under 5 must get a flu vaccine, or the daycare will be fined! While I was at the pediatrician, they recommended the H1N1 vaccine and I asked about the mercury content. They told me that no mercury free H1N1 was made by the government, and that it was okay to give my 13 month old a full dose version of the mercury laden shot (in two installments). I am not sure if I want to give it to her at all, but it struck me as strange that a pediatrician's office is telling me that it is okay to give a full merc version, and also that there is no alternative. Is this true? And if not, where could I obtain the merc free version? Thank you for your help!
Yes, they are making it, but it's very scarce. I wouldn't get an H1N1 with mercury.
