Yoga Together
Prenatal exercises and yoga are wonderful ways to spend time with your child. Children can do their own version of your exercises, and they’ll enjoy being a part of your self-care routine.
Here are a few fun yoga exercises geared just for kids that you can do together:
Cat and Cow: Get onto your hands and knees. Keep your back straight. Breathe in. Stretch your head back as your back curves. Moo! Now breathe out and stretch your head down so your chin is tucked into your chest. Let your back arch up. Meow! Keep stretching and arching back and forth between Cat and Cow positions. After ten repetitions, stretch back one last time into Cow. Let’s hear a big Moo!
Beautiful Bird: Sit on your heels. Bring your arms straight out to each side, touch your fingertips to the ground, and begin flying with your “wings.” Let the backs of your hands touch above your head. Inhale up and exhale down. Fly high to find that special cloud!
Lion’s Roar: Sit on your heels. Take a big breath, then scrunch up your face as tight as you can and close your eyes. Raise your chest up into the air, open your mouth and eyes wide and, as you exhale, stretch your tongue out as long as you can and roar like a lion! You are the king of the forest!
