constant gallbladder pain

I've had a dysfunctional gallbladder with occasional pain for 2 1/2 years. My HIDA scan score was -15% (yep, NEGATIVE 15%.) So my gallbladder actually expands when it is supposed to contract.

BUT I do not have any stones at all. (So a flush won't help--there aren't stones to flush out.) My ultrasound 2 1/2 years ago showed that, and my current ultrasound as of last week showed that. In fact, according to my family doctor, my gallbladder looks "perfect," -- it is smooth, thin-walled like it is supposed to be, etc. I don't want surgery because I don't have a diseased gallbladder! Just an unhappy one.

But for the last week or two I've had constant pain in my stomach, near my gallbladder. I wake up with the pain and go to bed with the pain. Nothing makes it feel better except heat. I've tried acupuncture and the chiropractor.

I have an appt. with a specialist in 2 weeks, but should I be going to the ER since I have constant pain? I don't really want to. (I don't have a fever, and I'm not throwing up, knock on wood, even though I'm nauseated.)

When I had gall bladder pain all my scans come back good also except they said my gall bladder was alittle sluggish NO stones but the pain was bad and I would have radiated pain in my upper back. I seen my Chiro afte rall other Drs failed. He did alot of applied keinesiology (SP) and I took beet root called beta food from stnadard process is the brand he used but I know there are others and in a few days I was fine now I take often NOT everyday with meals any more. I hope this helps you a bit

Blessings

The only thing the ER is really going to do is give you something for the pain in an IV and tell you to keep your specialist appointment and send you home. That was my expirience when I was going through my gallbladder issues.

yeah, I'm afraid they wouldn't do much except offer me surgery (which I'm trying to avoid.)

Anything/everything I eat hurts. Even when I don't eat, it hurts. It just hurts!!

Jenn

That works occasionally for me, but not all of the time.

I tried everything for my GB( I had some small stones) that got increasingly more consistent. After I had ds it got to the point that nothing helped. Everything I ate set it off, flushes stuffed helping. I was miserable. I finally decided to have it removed because it obviously wasn't going to get better.

I had heard surgery horror stories about it not working or making it worse so I really had tried to avoid it like the plague. Well it was the best think I ever had done. I'm pain free and so much healthier. I don't live in constant agony or fear. I'm not pro-surgery or anything but it was so worth it.

I hope you feel better. I remember how awful it was.

Did you end up going to the ER? What kind of specialist are you seeing? Or is it just a surgeon you are seeing? Good luck with whatever you decide, I know you have been thinking about this for a long time. I wish I had had that patience to research. I was just like "Cut this vile thing out of me!!"
I am a wimp!

If there's a health food store anywhere near, call and find out if they carry homeopathic remedies. Especially Nux Vomica 30C. My mom uses this. Her last gall bladder attack was over a year ago, however she told me she will take this remedy if she over indulges on greasy foods.

The attack she had when she began taking this remedy doubled her over with pain, but surgery was not an option at that time... It's an idea.
