Sometimes I read these and think- wow would people be lining up to get this item???
Only a few years old. Purchase price $1300. Its my friends couch who is moving far away and doesn't have the room for it in the new place. Its 2pcs with ottoman.
HOWEVER, it has dog pee stains at the bottom of the couch. And 1 laundry detergent stain on the top of it. She's tried to scrub clean. She thinks if you professionally clean it it should be fine but never did so because her dogs would pee on it again. Also, she is a smoker. She has moved most of her stuff out and needs this out by tonight or tomorrow afternoon NO LATER. So, if you are serious about this and you have the capability to get it out by tonight or tomorrow afternoon and are ok with a pee stained and smoked on couch...email me...if not please don't waste my time.

I came to this forum hoping to learn to organize my house. Instead, I got sucked into this thread (and all others about freecycle) and have been sitting here for 2 hours CRYING with laughter over this stuff.

NOT helping me organize my house.
You and me both! I haven't gotten anything done besides reading and laughing at that blog.

All that I could say was 'wow,' and that is way too creepy...
That reminded me of a job posting in Craigslist. The man was looking for a housekeeper - he's offering free rent/utilities in exchange for cooked meals and grocery shopping for him. I got curious because he had "facial and marital status criteria" in his list. It turned out he was looking for a housekeeper/girlfriend. he he he. That was creepy too. What's even creepier was that the guy was an aboriginal leader/social worker. Creepy double-faced guy.
I've seen used peanut oil a bunch in my area! Glad to see people need it!
my DH went wild over this one...there was an offer for an OPENED jar of peanut butter. The person said they didn't like the taste. GROSS! I bet it ended up getting flagged. That's just nasty.

I don't see what is so nasty about an opened jar of peanut butter. Would I take it myself? No. But there are plenty of folks (freegans, dumpster divers) who will go through a dumpster for free food. If you're willing to do that, why not pick up a perfectly good jar of peanut butter and keep it from going into the dumpster in the first place?
We have actually given away a big pan of tabouleh salad from a really delicious local Middle Eastern place on Freecycle. It was leftover from a party and we knew it wouldn't freeze well, and we couldn't possibly have eaten it all before it went bad. At the time we were in an apartment without access to a compost pile. We had LOTS of responses to our posting, and someone did come by and take it off our hands.
I posted an offer for condoms once, after I was pregnant. I mentioned that the pregnancy was planned, not a result of the condoms which were not expired, and I would obviously have no need for them. I left them in a brown bag on the porch so the guy who came to get them didn't have to face me.

Yeah, my dp had collected quite a few from the medical clinic over the years, as they just set them out in a basket.. so when we had our planned pregnancy, we had quite a few around the house.. I think I was too embarrassed to offer them though, so I am pretty sure they all ended up in the garbage..
unless my (then) teenage stepson took them all, which is certainly possible.
We are having our roof removed to add a room to the top of the garage.... The builder said that they would have the boom truck there ... and they are going to take the roof off in a couple of pieces. the trusses are in good shape and they are going to try and get them off without ruining them.
The roof sheething ... is stapled on.
Nothing wrong with roof, otherthan the shingles are original so are about 26 years old. no leakes.
I am just wondering.. what person is sitting around with a house this same size with no roof on it, thinking, gosh, I wish there was a free roof I could get somewhere to stick on this house?

For some reason, when I'm hearing that it in my head, the CHEEP!!! is an exclamation rather than an adjective with emphasis

Our local county Freecycle network is huge, so I always figure there must be people who live in town to pick these kinds of things up.

How can trusses be made into flooring? Recycled flooring is one thing, but a roof?
you can take apart anything and remake it. my dad and ex s.o has remade trusses into other parts of house. the trusses are thick wide boards. you could plane them and make them into flooring.
Found on Craigslist, actually, and made me think of this thread...
