I need a obgyn/midwife that delivers at north fulton because I had a very quick labor with my 3rd(1hr 40 min from 1st contraction at 37 weeks). I have had it with the practice with Kay Johnson and I haven't even been able to go in yet! I just want to be seen and I still have to wait 2 more weeks since they have no appts. I have called 2x since making the appt to get in earlier. I can't have a practice like that because things happen, kids get sick and I will need to change appts or be seen if the baby isn't moving etc... This is my 4th pregnancy and I have never had to wait so long to see someone I made my appt a month ago. They said if I have problems and need to be seen I should go to the ER our urgent care, I am sorry but that is BS! It also doesn't seem like they listen to what you are saying. I explained one of the issues I was having and they told the midwife something totally different.

Kay is no longer with that practice. And with that, there is no longer a midwife out of N. Fulton that I would recommend.

As of last Friday :(

My recommendations would be Intown Midwifery (Margaret, Anjli, and Amy) who deliver at Atlanta Medical Center, or Dr. Tate, his office is in Norcross and he delivers at Emory University Midtown.

I heard Margaret is wonderful. I was looking into using her but she is far away:(

it's really not that far. I live in Alpharetta and have had 2 babies at Emory Midtown. AMC is just another couple of miles. :)

What?! I have an appointment with her in two weeks, as well! Oh my goodness. Do you know anything about Janet Fedullo, the other midwife there? Or the doctor.

I don't know if Intown will take my insurance...

Hi. I live in Alpharetta and I plan to deliver at N.Fulton with Gifts from Grace. They do waterbirths (which I'm considering) and are very supportive of natural birth. I've been seeing the midwife Sarah there and I really like her. My next appointment is with Diane Tandy and I've heard very nice things about her too. I delivered in a birth center with my first in Tennessee, so I am very used to midwives. I would definitely recommend you to go see Sarah and Diane.

If you can see Margaret, she'd be my first pick, but be prepared for a long wait time esp. now if Kay's patients move to her. Diane delivered my 2nd and Janet my 3rd. I think you would have a great experience with either of them, though I have heard several of my doula friends say they have reservations about Diane. Personally, I like her, and I also really like Janet. I really cannot imagine what someone wouldn't like about Janet (from my experience). She is very laid back, non intervention-oriented and natural birth friendly. If you have a question about either of those midwives, you can PM me too.

I also liked Janet - only saw her for prenatals since Kay caught my baby, but I feel sure that I would have been just as happy with Janet.

Margaret caught my first baby and she is phenomenal. I would have gone back to her but I live very close to North Fulton and I couldn't stomach the drive to her new office plus the long wait times. Both my births at NF have been great... I have had a great experience with everyone there. (Turned out to be a good decision to stay at NF, since my baby has been in the NICU there for 3+ weeks now, I am glad I am so close to the hospital).

I am closing this thread because it violates the rules we have about negative provider reviews, it also hold a lot of speculation.

I am reopening this thread with many posts removed. Please do not cast suspicion at each other or attack when disagreeing. It is wonderful to do research and ask questions but please keep the responses fact based and not on speculations.

Negative comments that are verifiable facts of public record or court ruling are acceptable. Please avoid speculation and/or gossip. Please contact the provider or care center directly with any concerns or questions.

Statements such as: Hospital A has a 30% cesarean rate or Dr. B is not licensed to perform surgery both contain publicly accessible and verifiable information. A statement such as: I would never go to Dr. C because she is unkind and hostile to VBACs is personal opinion and possibly defamatory.

I am with Intown and I have not had a problem with long waits yet. I had one long wait the week Margaret's husband died. She was in the office and they were trying to work things out. It was a couple days before his funeral so I was not expecting everything to be running as smoothly under those circumstances but other then that my wait has not been too bad.

I have never had long waits at Intown, maybe I just got there on "good days" but I really think since they've moved to their own offices things have been running smoother, they no longer have to see all their patients in 2.5 days per week, and they have more space.

I'm sorry did anyone find out why Kay left Alpharetta Women's Specialist or where she is going? I am currenlty at AWS and have been seeing Janet and like her, but am a little disconcerted about learning that Kay has left under what seems mysterious circumstances. I'm also made nervous by the fact that the ICAN representative posting here is now not reccomending anyone at North. Fulton since I am trying for a VBAC. A little information or reassurance anyone?

So apparently as of yesterday, Kay is doing home births with http://www.gamidwife.com/. No idea why she left AWS, but I'm sticking with Janet and I like her. Also more news to me, AWS has found a replacement midwife for Kay who will start May 31st, bio coming soon. She'll be too late for my baby though, poor Janet needs some back-up, she's totally swamped! I hope this isn't considered bad mouthing or gossip, but my problem was with how the office handled Kay leaving, they just didn't tell anyone... no call, no note at the desk or on the website, no email/mail. I came in for at least 2 monthly appointments and saw Janet and just assumed that Kay was delivering, no problem. I had to find out that Kay was gone from other people whispering in the waiting room instead of from someone on staff. I've had zero problems with the midwives and nurses I've seen there, but the front desk staff has left a little to be desired in the way they handle things like rescheduling when Janet is delivering (I've waited over an hour without them saying that Janet isn't in yet several times), rescheduling when the ulrtasound tech broke her arm before Thanksgiving (they gave me a make-up date when the tech wasn't even in the office), not telling Kay's patients that she had left for months, etc. The only thing I can think of in their defense is that as far as the Kay situation goes is that I'm sure how to "deal" with that was handed down from some higher power. I wish my searches had turned up Gifts from Grace as it's a much closer drive for me and they sound great but oh well. I really am happy with my care at AWS despite all this drama and wait times since Kay left, and I'm looking forward to delivering at North Fulton.

When I had my baby in December, Kay Johnson was my midwife and Janet was the back-up at North Fulton. I interacted with both of them at the hospital and at AWS and I would recommend them without reservation. I believe that Kay is now only doing home births with Debbie Pulley (also a midwife). I thought North Fulton was great for my waterbirth but as that was my first childbirthing experience, I have nothing to compare it to.

I delievered at North Fulton for my first and currently I am looking for another provider to deliver my 2nd due in January.

I had Kay as my midwife and would never recommend that office for several reasons. 1) I felt as if I was lied to because I told Kay I wanted her to deliver my baby and instead had Janet. 2) I would absolutely never recommend Janet (although glad that several people had pleasant experiences with her) because during my 11 hour labor she never spoke to me in person, only spoke about me in 3rd person as if I couldn't hear/understand her, she left the room without telling my husband or myself whether it was for breakfast or to check on someone else, she lied to me about the timetable that Dr. Schineaux (is that how her name is spelled?) would be in to start preps for the necessary c-section.

This is my personal experience. I am glad that others had a good experience with her but personally I would never recommend Janet to anyone.

I hope this post doesn't break any rules. It is just my personal experience with Janet, one I would not want to repeat for baby #2.

I delivered two babies at North Fulton hospital and really appreciated my experience with the midwife there. Kim Storey is wonderful! She and the nurses helped me get through the process of going natural. I chose to walk versus a water birth and they let me do that until I was complete. For that reason, if I have another baby, I'm wouldn't consider any place but North Fulton.
