We are going to be relocating to the Scranton areal and are looking for homeschooling groups in the Scranton area. Specifically we are hoping to find some group classes in things like foreign language and the sciences.   What is required to home school in Pennsylvania-do we have to register? How difficult is that process?   Is there a Pennsylvania virtual academy? Has anyone had any experience with it-good or bad?   Is it legal in Pennsylvania to enroll a...

Our DDs attend a brand new Montessori charter (50 or so kids, grades K-4).  The principal has asked me to coordinate a meet and mingle for the parents.  Any ideas on what would make this a hit with adults and have a Montessori theme?  Something fun and social but still perhaps a bit educational maybe?  I am open to any and all ideas!   Thanks, M
My DDs are in a new Montessori charter school which opened this year.  They are part of a 1st-3rd  classroom of 18 children.  Because of some construction issues with the new school the cafeteria will not be ready until next year so we have to send the kids lunches every day.  My girls just shared with me that  most of the time, the mother of girls in their class does not pack her daughter's lunch, that if the Zoey wants lunch she has to pack it herself. According to my...
As for seeing the wife/kids again I think that is pretty unlikely.  We are in a small town and she had no connection to the community outside of his job (which he has been terminated from) and raising the kids.  She is currently living with her very supportive parents and has indicated that she is intending to stay there.   He is out and living across the street.  Our kids have never even talked to him because he worked very long hours (when he still had a job) and...
About 6 weeks ago our next door neighbor, father of 6 (ages 10-0) and church bishop was charged with possession of child porn.  The FBI was involved as were local police, they arrested him at work, and searched his house and removed many items.  The local paper stated that he received one or more images of child pornography through the Internet and also alleged he possessed a “movie image” of child pornography on an external hard drive, as well as on an internal hard...
I am about to launch an Etsy business and am struggling with ideas on a shop name (I also do craft fairs, benefits, etc.)  I mostly do cut vinyl and original scrap books/baby books but also some sewing, quilting, & cards.  So I want a rather ambiguous name and don't want to tie it to where I live or my own name.  I am very open to suggestion so please send them my way!
This is actually not the case in all states.  Here in Wyoming, for example, HS kids are considered "private schooled" and therefore are not eligible for public school services.  I contacted HSLDA and found out that this is true in a few states, including my own. We went through this with 2 kiddos, one for speech and one for vision therapy.  It was especially hard because our insurance would not cover either treatment.    My advice, if you live close to a university, is...
I wrote here about the crazy abnormal bleeding I have been having for the past year.  The midwife ran out of treatment ideas and recommended I see a gyn.  So I chose someone in a private practice and went in for my first visit (Please keep in mind that I live in a desolate area so I have to drive 75 miles, one way, to a ob/gyn.)  20 minutes before my appointment I got a call from the office and was told that the doctor is running 2 hours behind but I need to come in on...
