I thought she was being a bit premature. I guess since there is more talk of obesity in America and children, the DR was trying to give advice she thought would prevent obesity. I told her about my 1st daughter being thin now but it didn't change her opinion. And yes she just started walking a couple of weeks ago so I think she is "peaking." This Dr also asks me every visit if she is still cosleeping and if she is going to "get in her own bed at some point." I...
My 4yo dd was 2yo when I got pregnant. I got sick, puked for 3 mos, and just had to cut her back. I was miserable. I told her the drinkies were sick and tired like mama and had to go nite nite. So she was allowed to nurse before and after sleeping at bedtime and nap time. I did cut back gradually. And the night nursing seemed to be hardest, but telling her she could have more drinkies when the sun came out really seemed to help with that. It was still hard to let...
My ped says the same thing to me. And she blames bf for my 1 yo being overweight. But other bf mom's get the same reasoning for their babies being underweight and say they need whole milk! I personally don't like cow's milk. Just don't like the taste of it. I give it to my 1 yo occasionally, but am not trying to get her hooked on it.
Wow congratulations!!!
lol to the "oversize" and the "couch couch" chant! As a side note, my 4 yo still calls breasts "drinkies". She calls her own nipples drinkies too, as well as her Daddy's and her little boy friend's. "Mama, my drinkies aren't as big as yours. Daddy doesn't have any milk in his drinkies 'cause they're not big like yours." So I had to explain what breasts and nipples are and that only girls can have drinkies in their breasts. lol!
I always love the support I get here! It's great to know I'm not the only one with a big baby! And to know that people with smaller babies get the same speech. Kinda crazy, I agree. Ella is eating finger foods and doesn't like juice anyway. So I think I will just relax and wait for her to even off herself by walking and soon enough running. I feel so much better! Thanks all! *hugs*
At her 1 year checkup my daughter, Ella, weighed 31.7 lbs and was 32 inches tall. She has been above the charts on both height and weight for a while, but this is the first time the DR said she was overweight. She said the weight curve was higher than the height now, not in proportion anymore. She wants me to cut back on "emotional" nursing. But that is mostly all she does! I mean, she eats some table foods, but not large amounts. She nurses when tired, upset, shy,...
My 1 yr old doesn't call them anything yet, but my 4 yr old used to call them "drinkies". She nursed regularly until 2 and then at bedtime until 3 yrs. So I've been calling them that already t o encourage it. I loved that someone hearing it wouldn't know what she was asking for, could've been a sippy cup. I am a bit shy and like to be discreet.

When I went in last Wednesday, my Dr gave me an appt for an inducement. But luckily, I went into labor that very night on my own!!!! I started having serious contractions at 11 pm and she was born at 2:50 am on October 27th! Talk about fast and furious! After all the waiting and worrying, when she was ready to come out, she flew! We are proud to welcome Baby Ella Rose, 9 pounds, 20 inches. I'm so excited and so happy. Thanks everyone who helped me hold out. She's...
