Just went through the exact same shock with a different company (Colonial Life). I didn't have any coverage when I was out with dd-- took 8 wks unpaid and it was very, very difficult financially and I was not ready to come back. I was so excited when my new company offered 12-week STD and signed up as soon as I could-- even SAT DOWN WITH THE REP and worked out hard numbers re: the coverage, what to budget for during maternity leave, etc. when open enrollment came around...
I'm overwhelmed by pump choices. Returning to work FT in March (dd #2 is due in Dec) and need a trusty pump to get me through LOTS of office pumping. Looking at the Medela Freestyle and wondering if it's worth the price. Is there a pumps thread that compares brands/ models? Anybody in love with their Freestyle? Disappointed by it? Thanks, mamas!
We like old-timey names, but some were too old-timey when it came down to it, or just didn't work with our last name. Girls: Cecelia Agnes (my Granny) Josephine (didn't like "Josie") Camille Claudia Hattie Clementine Caroline Irene Rosemary Ruby Thisbe Adelaide Annie June Loretta (Lottie)
Sorting through dd's old baby stuff to prepare for dd #2 in Dec... and realized I have a BOATLOAD of those round-edged, flannel baby blankets. Way more than I need-- some were never used. I'm a novice sewer but I want to use them-- any ideas? My best one yet is drawstring bags for toys. DD is almost 4 and getting into toys that have a lot of components-- memory games, dominoes, etc. Figured we can try to keep them organized and out of new baby's mouth that way....
Has anyone transitioned to MINT from the tried and true envelopes system? We are budget nerds and do envelopes at present through an online service that I love, but it's not free, and there are some hiccups with ease of use (as in, husband won't touch it because he's afraid he'll mess the whole thing up). I am really sold on some of the MINT features, like the email alerts and general easy interface, auto- categorizing, etc. And I see now that you can budget for...
I know... I was surprised to hear that from her, too. I REALLY don't want to be trapped on my back again, because I am almost certain that's what slowed my labor with dd, why they gave me pitocin, why she went into distress, why I had a C-section. The reasoning behind getting it right away seemed to be that it would just "already be in place" if I end up needing C-Section #2. I see her again next week and I'll challenge her on it. She's a nurse-midwife who delivers...
This will be my first VBAC, planning to do it at the hospital. My midwife is pushing pretty hard for me to go ahead and have an epidural right away when I go into labor... which I'm wary of doing. I feel like that's why I had my C-section in the first place. Anyone done/ doing a hosptial VBAC unmedicated?
Silvana Rose: (I tried to quote but I can't make it do what y'all can make it do, forgive me) I'm expecting #2 and from experience with weird, spoiling inlaws, they will suck the life out of you if you don't pick your battles! From the day I peed on the stick pg with DD, I started getting angry with my in-laws for things that were years away, and all it did was make things more tense between us. Are they weird? TOTALLY. Do I curse them under my breath? OFTEN. Do I...
Need some creative help, mamas! I'm a FT WOH mama with a 3 1/2 year old and #2 on the way in Dec. I'm a copywriter for an advertising/ marketing firm. I'll be negotiating my maternity leave soon, which is going to be sticky... our company policy is 6 weeks (?? srlsy?) and I'm going in asking for 8 weeks leave and 4 more weeks working from home or some combo of home & office. I have a strategy for that -- too long to go into here. FMLA does not apply... we have 46 (not...
Name: Betsy Weeks/Days along: 17 wks 4 days Appointments: Maternal Fetal Specialist was Monday (for ITP), Anatomy U/S on 7/22 Symptoms: pressure in my lower belly, a little morning nausea.
