Thank you all SO much for the encouraging and helpful words! Hubby's biggest concern is that if we do this even "a year at a time", they will be behind if they were to go back into a school system. As far as "why now?" - well, I would have looked much more seriously at it for this school year, but we moved to Quebec Canada (for this school year) and, having read a bit about it, realized that the laws here would make it more difficult. Also, though my boys are in an...
I am still very overwhelmed with the idea of beginning to homeschool my boys. I am doing as much research as I can about what method(s) might work better, where to start, how to go about this thing called "homeschool" etc etc etc. I am still struggling to gain the confidence to take this leap of faith with myself and our boys (current ages 7 1/2 and 6). BUT Hubby is VERY reluctant. He feels that it would not be a very good idea - that they would "be better off in school"...
Thank you all SO much for your thoughtful responses and encouragement!   SweetSilver: Both boys are currently in public schools (in Quebec, CA....so definitely similar, but also Quite different than in KS!!!) which means DS1 is in his second year in "formal education" (grade 1) while DS 2 is in his first year (kindy) - part of the difference is that kindy is not required here so Kindy, grades 1 and 2 are quite alot easier than in KS. For what it's worth: I think I am...
Where do I start? Well, my boys are currently in grade 1 and Kindergarten. We are living in the province of Quebec, CA this year, but will likely be moving back home (Kansas) this summer. My oldest (age 7 1/2; grade 1) has been formally diagnosed with Severe-Profound Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. I suspect at least some of both with younger son (age nearly 6), but no diagnosis yet. I have, for about a year and a half *thought* about homeschooling my boys, but knew that that...
Thanks for the input ladies!! We spent last summer July 4th in Seaside OR (F-i-L lives there) and I was FREEZING sitting on the beach in jeans, a jacket, gloves and a scarf wrapped around my head.....BUT we were coming from KS (where we live) and were having daily record breaking heat ;)   So, I was basically thinking the CA coast might be quite a bit like Seaside, OR....maybe a bit less chilly?!?!   I was pretty hesitant at first to go on this trip (b/c it costs...
My family (me, DH, DS1 and DS2 (who will be 6 and 4 respectively)) will be going to California the first week of September. We will fly in to San Francisco and drive up the coast to Trinidad / Arcata area for B-I-L's wedding. We may spend a day or so in San Fran, but we will have 3-5 days to do the drive and we will be stopping to hike, picnic etc as we want b/c what I really want to see and do is all in nature (rather than the city :).   I have not ever been to CA,...

My boys are currently 4 y 9 m and 3 y 1 m. Both had to be delivered via c/s (despite me TRYING and desperately wanting a natural and unmedicated birth) though I did fully dilate and push with both boys. I breastfed both boys with ds2 weaning about 1 yr ago.   About 6 mo after ds2 was born, I began to feel like my hormones were completely out of whack (I have PCOS (mild) so the only time I ever felt "normal" was during pregnancy). My libido dropped to nothing, I was...
to the OP - I would just like to add - not necessarily directly related to circ - TRUST YOUR MOMMY INSTINCTS!!! If  YOU  think there is a problem (and you have made an effort to educate yourself on the symptoms), there probably is! If YOU don't like / don't trust the doctor (specialist or not), then FIND a NEW ONE! Again, this is not directly re: circ, but in your particular case - do YOU honestly feel as though there is a problem / concern with your ds's penis? Do YOU...
DS1 had vaxes for the first 9 or so months (at which time I quit work to stay home, educated myself further re: vax and STOPPED vaxing!!). DS1 was a very colicy/cranky baby. He was exclusively BF, but still seemed to "react" to alot of stuff. Once he weaned, he kept getting rashes (face, legs mostly) and we figured out he is sensitive to wheat, corn and soy as well as pasteurized dairy. He CAN, however, tolerate (and enjoy!) RAW cow's milk with no reaction. I think it...
