Hi Staceeyore01,    Welcome to mothering. Glad you decided to join us :) Here are a couple of links you may find useful:    Trying to Conceive: http://www.mothering.com/community/f/178/trying-to-conceive The Childhood Years: http://www.mothering.com/community/f/65/the-childhood-years     Explore and make yourself at home. Enjoy!
Have you seen the Global Table Adventure blog?    Here: http://globaltableadventure.com/countries-ive-cooked/   Enjoy :)
Among the things you mentioned, I'd say sleep is the most important one for me. If that is lacking then it has a domino effect on everything else.  After that, I'd say massage and a nice cup of tea through out the day.
Wonderful input! Thank you Mamas :)   I am now firmly on the side that a playpen is not a necessity but nice to have when/if ever you need it.  As most of you pointed out, she can easily purchase it second hand.  @LiLStar I was def. not thinking something like the one in the second link (the fence looking one).  Thank you for pointing out the differences; I had no idea!
Nope! I want to find out if other mamas use playpens or find them necessary before we decide to buy one for her.  I am trying to mitigate my own bias here.  And, we can easily choose something else from her list instead.  I want to get the most useful items.
I don't have any funeral drama stories at all but I couldn't read and not comment. I hope others share.  I hope the horrified feeling you keep experiencing subsides rapidly and disappears entirely.
Friends and I are throwing a baby shower for a first time mom. We are all chipping in and purchasing big ticket items from her list --  a stroller, a playpen, a car seat etc.  I am of the opinion that we shouldn't bother with the playpen because it is expensive and she may find that she will never really use it.  I just don't see it as a must have.  Maybe I am just biased because I never used one with my kids.  What do you Mamas think?  Are playpens necessary?
