Started a June thread!   http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1316966/alaskan-mom-thread-for-june#post_16494125
Summer's on its way. Had to start a new thread. :)   Took baby to a toddler time for the first time today. She seemed to have a good time.   Heard about a writer's camp for ages 10-14. Looking for more young writers! classes will be held in the Winterberry school. details and application can be found here.   http://www.49writingcenter.org/Instruction/summer-youth.php   Hoping to round up some more young Alaskan writers. This is the first year 'trial"...
I thought some moms might be interested in a writing opportunity i just found out about. They are starting up  a summer writing "camp" for ages 10-14.. classes will be held in the Winterberry school. details and application can be found here.   http://www.49writingcenter.org/Instruction/summer-youth.php   Hoping to round up some more young Alaskan writers. This is the first year 'trial" and need to get the word out! I will post in the monthly chat as well. :)
Hey!
subbing for input!
subbing for May! busy time of year for me though.. maybe I will make it back by the end of the month!
well, we ended up buying a 2009 used one. it has 10,000 miles so still very new. still working out the payments, etc. Sucks because we didn't owe that much on our old car, but insurance companies don't have to give you something "equivalent" they have to replace the value of your old car.. anything as old as our old car has FAR more miles... so we just had to bite the bullet. Still I think we didn't do too badly. Good thing, too since we were looking EVERY DAY for 2...
Anyone bought a new toyota sienna in Alaska? Is there really very little haggling to be had? Seems off somehow.
Anyway, sorry I have been staying away.. the new setup of mothering scared me away for a while, and just when I was starting to get comfortable navigating it, we were in a bad car wreck. I have missed work and all the kiddos were in the car too, so I am juggling appts for everyone. It is a nightmare. Thankfully we all survived- bumped, bruised, scraped and sore, but nothing permanent.
Did you try any of the immersion programs? Some are not charters, exactly. We love the rigor. And our school is NOT full. close, but not yet
