my husband's work is relocating us to Scranton very suddenly and I know nothing about the city(town?). It would be great to get to know other moms who could help me find my way around the area or for playdates(I have a four year old daughter and a two year old son).   Cheers, Jenica
Have you had your thyroid checked  It's really not uncommon for women to have low thyroid after giving birth. If that's the case with you, than your symptoms should clear up soon after going on thyroid meds.I had the most intense and irrational anger toward my three-year-old daughter shortly after my son was born. Like you, I knew this wasn't my personality at all, and I had never felt angry toward her at all, so I was relieved to find out that it was mostly due to a...
You might want to cut out cheese. My mom has really bad acne and she swears that she breaks out when she eats cheese and chocolate.  I have some acne and have started to notice real change in my complexion since I've started Dr Fuhrman's eat to live diet.  You might want to give it a try.  It's not as restrictive as raw vegan--you can still eat animal foods in small quantities on the diet, the main thing is that 90% of food has to come from beans, nuts, veggies and...
you're not alone. In fact, I felt relieved to read your story, because although I know that other women experience these symptoms i've never encountered anyone who had them to the extreme that I do.  I can relate to everything that you're saying, from the icky intrusive thoughts to the horrifying fears of never getting out of the depression.  I've also experienced a traumatic event that I think is linked to the ocd thoughts.  I wish I had some great advice for dealing...
crushed eggshell collages are lots of fun.
Cutting back on suger, avoiding caffeine, taking fish oil, taking emergen-c packets twice a day, and making sure I ate foods with lots of tryptophan all really helped me in my recovery.  I still had to go on meds in the end though--probably a lower dose than if I hadn't done all those things.  I also made sure to socialize at least three times a week, exercised as often as I could and made a point to get sunlight for at least an hour everyday.
really surprised your dr didn't do a thyroid check.  Physical symptoms?  what is she talking about? I had low thyroid and, like you, I was angry a lot, irritable, had a hard time sleeping, and had that horrible queezy feeling in my stomach, felt wiped out all the time and was really sensitive to noise but I didn't have any physical symptoms other than weight LOSS.
I also wanted to say it sounds like you could really use some help, maybe hire a babysitter so you can just get away for a bit?  Or so you and your husband can get away together?  Having something to look forward to, even if it's weeks away can really help you get through those hectic, non-stop days.
sounds exactly like the way I felt when my kids were the same ages as yours.  Also, there's a real adjustment period with the second just like with the first.  Take a ppd sreening (get one online or from your dr) and then keep taking one every week or two.  Even if you're not depressed now, it's good to keep taking the screenings to be sure.  I remember that feeling with my two kids of just feeling like I couldn't get things under control.  it gets a lot better, I...
yes, you absolutely can be clinically depressed and feel good some days. usually, if you fill out a questionar, the questions will apply to any symptoms that have been troubling you within the past two weeks, regardless of the good days you may have in between.   I'm just going to jump right in and give you my opinion: make an appointment with a psychiatrist and do some research about meds.  here's why...    one, it sounds like you have a lot on your plate and...
