Totlol.com!!! It's a screened site, everything is from youtube but it doesn't get added to totlol unless it passes a certain number of parents. plus, no youtube links show up after the video. I have DD set up there with an account so she can favorite things. Another cool thing - if they are missing something she's interested in, I look for it on youtube and add it to totlol myself. And after this week's big porn "prank" on youtube DD is being kept away from "real"...

We travelled with DD from about 9 months and never took anything along for sleeping -- we always (well, except once) get a kingsize and put her in the middle. I've never taken the mattress off or moved the bed, but I used to drag a chair over next to the bed -- although I faced it towards the bed co-sleeper style. (Not sure why, since DD never slept in the co-sleeper ) I think the only thing I used to travel with was a roll of painters tape -- it tapes up dangling...
DD switched within maybe a month or two, so well before 3 yrs. But we got a "family seat" toilet seat which incorporates a real child-size seat as part of the seat. I hate the inserts (and DD would never use them elsewhere). Hmm, I'm not finding the one we have, maybe they've discontinued it? I only find this one, which is designed differently but looks fine to me. (Ours is MDF, this one is plastic.)
I had a friend in college named Avalon -- I always thought it was a beautiful name!
I would definitely get some testing done so you know what to worry about and what not to -- you may be surprised. Our house is closing in fast on 100 years, and there was actually lead paint in just two places - 1 set of windows, and one door in the basement. Everything else had either been stripped and repainted years ago, or (this is apparently common) had never been painted in the first place (stained wood and wallpapered walls) and wasn't painted until lead started...
For a small babe, it would have to face me -- we were lucky and had a combi from japan that was inexpensive, compact fold, and face either way. If I didn't have that option, I'd suck it up and try to afford a Bug, they're really great. But for an older kid, Quinny Zapp, which has fantastic handling (seriously, you can spin it place with one hand) and folds up TINY. I wish I had gotten ours the moment DD preferred to face away when she was in a stroller. Forgot to mention,...
I'm glad to see kids do it with the middle name too -- I thought DD was the only one! She has changed her middle name 3 times now (she started around her 3rd b-day), and the current one seems to have stuck. She signs her name that way and everything. She doesn't care if people mention her real middle name though. Personally, I have no problem with it. Ultimately, it's up to her what she is called for the rest of her life, and if she wants to change it legally, I'll...
It's not cheap, but I know several car-less moms here in NYC that have a Radian because of the fold -- you can keep it in the back of a closet or under a bed or couch easily. It's also a seat you can use forever, although it's big RF and won't fit into smaller cars. Just wanted to throw that idea out there since you'll be keeping whatever you get somewhere in your home when it's not in a car.
wow, you know, I have needed to laminate things (I currently always use the packing tape method!) and never thought to look up diy methods! I found this link showing someone using laminating film with an iron: http://66.49.227.200/FCG/Pages/UPN.html#Page_Lamination which makes me think any laminating film could be used this way. and lots of places have it on a roll, but the widest I'm seeing is 27". (google roll laminating film") I am so picking up laminating...
