I should probably do some forum searching before posting, but I'm rushed and my two kiddos only give me so long on the computer.   I have a 3-year old who is not vaccinated for the chicken pox.  But I've been concerned that he would never have a chance to get the pox since EVERYONE seems to be vaxed.  We just found out some friends of ours who traveled out of state for thanksgiving have a case of the chicken pox!     I'd be taking my 3-year old over there in a...
My husband encapsulated the placenta and it has been great!  I remember how I felt last time and this time is so very different.  I don't mind the middle of the night feedings, I feel capable of handling my new daughter and my DS.  I am emotionally on solid ground.  I had no idea you could feel this good post-partum!   Some of this is no doubt because I am not a first time mom.  But the one day I missed taking the lunch session of my 'happy pills' was the only day...
I gave birth to my son in this same hospital using the same group of midwives and I felt like it was a pretty bad experience.  This time I expected less of the hospital staff, expected more of myself, and brought my own support team in the form of my doula and my wonderful DH.  Also, I was probably only in the L&D room for 30 minutes or so before she was born, so there wasn't time for many things to be done to me. =)  But after this experience I may give birth in the...
I posted this in the Birth Stories Forum:   http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1320661/inara-s-beautiful-hospital-birth   One note is that I did use Hypnobabies, but I was not at all the ideal HB student.  With my first birth whenever I noticed that someone used hypnosis I didn't even bother reading the story because it seemed kind of kooky, and besides it wasn't applicable to me because I wasn't doing that.  Well, that first birth taught me that I...
Wednesday June 22, 2011 I woke up to the disappointing sound of my alarm clock at 5:30.  I had been hoping for days to wake up and find myself in labor.  At 7am I headed off to work and during the 35 minute commute I had two pressure waves.   I considered turning around and going home, but since I had been having practice waves for most of the last trimester I continued on.  Immediately on arriving to work my supervisor handed me a sheet of paper informing me that...
Great story!  I used Hypnobabies also and feel very much as you did.  Did it help--yes I think so.  Was I hypnotized, no not really.  Was it pain free, certainly not.  Still it helped me a lot and gave me serenity during the pregnancy that might otherwise have been difficult after my first birth. Congratulations.  You are both beautiful!
I danced through part of my birth to Donna De Lory and it was great!  We put it on at the hospital also and I pushed our beautiful baby out to it.  Both the midwife and nurse asked what music was playing because they really like it too!  I used Hypnobabies but listening to the tracks was just irritating during active labor.  I needed to be up and moving--though I would use the Hypnobabies techniques during each wave.
Well it was the real deal.  I finally headed home once I could no longer sit down through the waves and was having to nonchalantly lean into the yoga ball I was using as a chair.  I put in 7.5 hours at work, drove 35 minutes home, called the doula, headed to the hospital and made the 45 minute drive in 30 minutes.  Had a beautiful baby girl about an hour after pulling into the parking garage and just 3 pushes!  8 lbs 2 oz born at 9:12 pm.  The midwife and nurse were...
I loved the music in my prenatal yoga DVD and ordered it to use at my birth:   Donna De Lory: The lover and Beloved http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001C3FERI/ref=docs-os-doi_0   Dave Stringer: Japa http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00129GC1O/ref=docs-os-doi_0   Dave Stringer: Mala http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QQOUGI/ref=docs-os-doi_0   Tom Rossi: Salma Har http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00177E0BK/ref=docs-os-doi_0   Hopefully the...
Yay!  I was wondering if we'd be hearing something from you!
