I'm pretty sure about my dates -- we were trying to NOT get pregnant, and the only time it could have happened was when I was sure (ha) that I had ovulated days before. Now that I look back, I feel like an idiot. I mean, I've been super-dieting and am nursing a 1-1/2 yo frequently (both of which I'm sure can affect ovulation), and the month before I *didn't* ovulate and had only a 3 week cycle. Why was I thinking I'd be having a normal 28-day cycle? While I'm excited to...
This is my third pregnancy, and it was a big surprise. It's a long story, but basically I developed a rare medical disorder last year that is still getting resolved -- not an ideal time for me to get pregnant. So now I'm paranoid that there are twins in there. I saw my midwife on Tuesday and she said that my uterus feels bigger than 6 weeks. I should have asked her how much bigger, but I figure it's because my uterus has already been through this twice, and my firstborn...
I had one with my son, and I had 3 episodes of a LOT of bleeding (soaking through big pads every 15 minutes, for about an hour each time). I don't remember the size, but none of the midwives seemed too hopeful. The backup OB said that we'd have to watch for IUGR due to it, but everything was fine -- I had a full-term 10 lb baby! If I recall the internet research I did at the time, the size and location of the clot are the important factors. I couldn't believe how many...
I'm nursing an 18 month old and I'm worried about what will happen when my supply drops -- she's going to be so sad! My older ds was already nightweaned and had just turned 2 when I got pregnant with my dd. He nursed all during that pregnancy, and my breasts never hurt, so maybe yours won't either (my breasts hurt A LOT during my first pregnancy, though).
Wow, I can't thank you enough for your post -- this is exactly the kind of information I've been looking for! We live in a low-water area, so well concerns are a big deal to us. Printing all this out ...
Weight gain is a huge issue for me with this pregnancy. Over the past year, I've lost 70 lbs. I planned to lose 30 more and then consult with my specialist (I developed a rare medical condition last year), before deciding whether to have baby #3. We were being really careful, so finding out that I'm pregnant was quite a shock! My midwife has given me the okay to stay on my current diet (which is vegan; I eat tons of veggies, fruit, beans, and nuts every day) for the...
I've been really tired and just a bit queasy. My breasts don't hurt, but they didn't with my second pregnancy either; maybe because I'm nursing? With my dd (my second pregnancy), I had basically zero symptoms, except fatigue, until I felt her moving!
We are part of a "homeschool preschool co-op", but all that means is that we get together once or twice a week and the kids play. The kids range from 1 - 5. We want our kids to have friends who will be homeschooling, so that all their friends don't suddenly disappear to school and they feel left out.
Thanks for your reply. A lot of what you wrote confirms what we've been trying to piece together. We live in Northern California, so Oregon seems relatively cheap to us -- though the nice houses on big acreage are definitely above our price range! We're in a very progressive and temperate climate right now, and we feel like we couldn't cope in a hot and/or conservative spot. We're coming up at the end of August, and I can't wait to see some of these places in...
We want to move to Oregon and have been researching different areas, to figure out which places we should visit next month. It's hard to get info about rural areas, though! We want to be within a couple hours of either Portland or Eugene, have 10+ acres, with a reasonable condition home. We're happy where we are, but our house is tiny (650 sq ft) and it costs to much to add on here. We do have land though, and livestock we'll want to move with us. Does anyone know of...
