Tomorrow my baby girl turns 1.  I can't believe it, I'm in awe, amazement, and wonderment of how fast, how wonderful, and how great this year has been.  To tell the truth, it really has been fun, the best year ever.  My little girl has brought out the best in me and my husband, and we are excited to have another baby soon, we are ready to start TTC again.  I'm starting to read more parenting books about toddlers and gentle parenting.  She's signing "milk", "eat", "more",...
I also recommend wearing your baby on your back in the Ergo.  We love the Ergo.  I use the Ergo all the time when we're in the house, but only in the house when it's naptime.  She no longer takes naps in her crib.  I'll wear her on the front when I can lay back on the couch and nap with her, but I wear her on my back when her nap time coincides when I need to get things done around the house.  She actually naps longer when I wear on my back.  The only glitch is that you...
Hi everyone,   My DD (born Feb 8) started walking on Jan 1 (10months, 3 weeks), it was truly a great New Year's Day.  She started crawling at 7 months.  She's a beast, quite rough and tumble, she takes tons of tumbles on the floor and gets right up and keeps going, we wrestle and roll together on the floor.  She climbs stairs, can slide feet-first off the side of the couch and bed on her own.  I keep all the doors closed and have extended a hexagon baby playpens to...
My DD (6.5 months) has a Sophie giraffe as well. She likes it too. Knowing that she drops and throws many of toys (Sophie included), I wrap a pacifier holder on one of Sophie's legs in hopes of not losing it when we're out. Given the price of Sophie, DD will only get one. BTW, my DD likes the cheaper vanilla scented teething chews by Vulli better than Sophie, which I also attach to pacifier cords.
Check out Real Life Rituals by Karyl Huntley. Page 126 has a script for a beautiful baby blessing that can be done with just parents and with loved ones. Here's the Amazon.com link: http://www.amazon.com/Real-Life-Ritu...2824994&sr=1-1
I've been waiting about 3-4 days as well. So far my DD has had Tasty Baby brown rice cereal, butternut squash, and avocado, blended with expressed BM or purified water to adjust for a thin puree. So far so good. I'm reluctant to offer fruits, where we live the fruits are incredibly and naturally super sweet. I'm afraid she'll reject the veggies for the super sugary bananas, pears, papaya, mangos, etc.
Perdita & Nicole- thank you for the suggestions. Since 4 months she's been moving down the percentile, 40th @ 4 months, 25th @ 5 months, now 10th at 6 months. Her head circumference has stayed at 50th percentile since birth, and her height has followed the same downward curve as her weight. In tend to believe that she's just going to be a tiny baby. My mom tells me I was a tiny baby, and there's plenty of short women on both mine and my husband's maternal and...
Hello Feb 2010 Parents, this is my first post on the MDC. My DD turned 6 months old yesterday (Aug 8). She's a baby phenom. She's been sitting unassisted for about 2 weeks now, rolls like a log to get her toys, wants to put everything in her mouth, smiles at everybody, and has taken well to solid foods. She's incredibly curious. She's starting to lift her hips up too, and trying to combat crawl. I could go on and on, I'm a first time mom, I'm at home with her, she's...
We've been using a white noise machine (Conair purchased at walmart.com) since DD was 2wo. It worked great to do Karp's 5s for the constant shhhuushing. She's now 5mo and still using it at naptime and bedtime as part of sleep association routine. I tell her, "here comes your sleep sounds" and then turn on the machine after I swaddle her up. We have it set to stay on all night. She sleeps well with it.
