I'm up in the middle of the night....I had to pee and then the baby got hiccups, and I have heartburn. The hiccups are kind of funny. The baby's so low now that it feels like the hiccups are in my bottom (sorry if it's TMI but it's such a weird feeling). This has happened several times over the past 12 hours or so and it just makes me laugh....but it's pretty hard to sleep through. I'm hoping they subside soon so that I can get back to sleep. I have to be up very...

Bostonmommy- Evening Primrose Oil helps to ripen and soften the cervix. I take it orally and have done vaginal suppositories of it in the past (debating them this time around...I think they did make a difference last time in terms of helping my body prepare for labor though it still ended up being long and drawn out...but there were other reasons for that I think). http://www.essortment.com/naturally-inducing-labor-benefits-drawbacks-evening-primrose-51100.html

My midwife has had me on oral EPO for a few weeks. I remember I took it on my own last time too. I sometimes (when I remember) drink RRL tea which my midwife also encourages. Similarly, I think seeing my chiropractor (who works in conjunction with my midwife) and doing the pelvic tilts and other excercises they want me to do won't help me go into...

This is what I'm really hoping for this time around. I was uncomfortable on so many levels (environment, the people around me, dealing with my own fears, sheer exhaustion) last time and I couldn't relax enough to progress despite being on a horrible amount of pitocin. Things should be VERY different this time!

Given that I had a 34 hour labor last time, I'd take something a little shorter this time, but after hearing from several friends lately who had labors under 2 hours (the shortest was under an hour and it left her reeling) I'm thinking that 6-8 hours sounds just about perfect. My midwife says that she's never had anyone who saw my chiropractor go beyond 6 hours. That kind of scares me in a way....of course I'm also totally prepared to be the one who breaks that...
