If you really think it's gross, write a letter, too. Saying it's gross here is like preaching to the choir. A letter took me two minutes.

Thank you very much for that. That was really all I wanted to do.
No health problems for the baby whatsoever (thank goodness; SIL ate very little during her pregnancy and the baby was born early.).
I am excited to be an aunt for the first time; DD was the first baby in our family, and this one is the second. I won't get to see her until mid-November...

My heart aches because:
1. The child was put on a feeding schedule its first day of life. A newborn. A feeding schedule.
2. The crib is less of an issue than the fact that they are going to cry it out (stated intention).
I guess this is my issue, but why do I feel like I'm the a$$hole here? Isn't this an attachment parenting website? Where feeding schedules and CIO are generally not well regarded?
My [materialistic] brother and his wife just had their first baby a week ago; congratulations, right? Well, apparently, the new baby is already on a feeding schedule, and I just got picture's from her first week, and one of them is cheerfully labeled "Waking up in her crib."

Just a white girl living in Marietta chiming in; I teach, as well, and although there is some monumental compassion in my building for the victims of HurKat, there have been some ASTONISHING comments made with respect to evacuation. And my Bush-loving father (yuck...pun definitely not intended) has managed to spew some crap, as well.
