Just felt like there needed to be an alternative voice. While I completely support all decisions, there are religious reasons to do so. So I think being pro choice in this area is the best way to go. If it goes against what you feel is right don't do it. But being "cruel" etc, I think is a bit extreme. I am Jewish and therefore it is part of my life, culture and spiritual life. All our Jewish men don't feel like they have suffered in anyway, including in sexual sensation...
Hi everyone, I have been using a keeper for over 10 years. After my first baby, I could not use it, even though I switched to post birth size. It seems to drop down a little and agitate my vaginal opening. I tried buying a Diva and couldn't figure out how to use it. Apparently it is worn differently than a keeper. Now I had my second baby and it is happening again. I really don't want to use pads as I never have. The enviro. friendly ones are not working for me, so I'm...
Just wanted to update and have this here for other mamas who are worried about their babes vomiting after eating "grain" cereals.  I have been reading a lot of sites about rice, oat, barley cereal. It seems that lots of people have probs with them.  I always felt weird about giving them to my first child. He never had probs. but didn't like it and I didn't blame him. It tastes yucky. I gave them to him for a little bit anyhow. Though I don't usual "tow the party line", I...
I have always used Nature Clean (a Canadian company), not sure if it is available else where?  I use Bummis prefolds with covers (also Canadian) and they have very good customer service. I have still had to strip a few times, after using the same diapers for about  3 years.  I was told that Nature Clean is fine to use, but when stripping that I can also add Bleach, which I did not do. I guess that I would still prefer to use a detergent that has no "unatural" or non...
Thanks for the info. Still humming and hawing about what to do. Meanwhile I haven't given her any grains. But I do appreciate the heads up about the tests
hmmm....a lot to think about. My daughter doesn't have any feeding probs. as of yet. The only thing she has experienced has been throwing up after the rice, oats or barley. As I wrote, I'll probably try these again next month in a pure form.   Bought yogurt today, don't know if I'll give it to her. Also not sure whether I should keep my allergy specialist appointment. My hubbie is really against our daughter being tested.   It is so funny, though this is my...
Hi Mosaic, thanks so much for posting that.  My intuition tells me that she does not have an allergy or sensitivity, but rather a sensitivity to the iron, mineral and vitamins added to the cereals. I have a hard time with iron myself - so I'm sure it is worse for her.  I am supposed to go to an allergist mid July, but not sure if I will keep the appointment. Can you tell me what type of test they do to test for celiac and rice allergies? I would rather not do anything...
Thanks a lot for the welcomes!!!
Ok, now this has been happening to me and I am totally freaked out by it. My son never had these problems. It has happened three times that she has vomited the grains up, a few hours after been fed them. I use Healthy Times, Organic brown rice cereal. She is fine with all the veggies I have given her. I am very worried about it. I am going to my pediatrician on Tues. Will see what they say.   What is FPIES? I'll look it up.
Hi Everyone, have loved Mothering from the time I first read it at my midwives clinic. Was sad when I subscribed, just as the print edition stopped being...but now I'm here and glad to start being part of the community. Unfortunately, not around too many mothers who make the same choices as me. I'm glad to find the support here.    Looking forward to being part of the community.
