I know a million great midwives in the ann arbor area- if you want their numbers to see if they will travel that far- let me know and I'll get them all together for you!
The homeopathic remedies I have listed for back pain/ and or back labor ar Belladonna, Causticum, Chamomilla, Coffea, or Kali Carb, with Kali Carb being the most often used with best results. I would try a 30c. I think I've also read about using Bryonia- but you'd have to look into that more. I don't have it listed in the book I was looking at. I have the same back pain, from posterior babies. It's so painful. I find a lot of relief from wearing a heated back belt. ...
I did some training for PPD work, but never really did any work because all the people who called where really either looking for a maid service or a nanny for their older kids (neither of those fields particularly interest me) so I never took any clients. I love doing births though, and so I offer the ppd services just to those I work with during labor and birth. It can be a good job if you don't mind cleaning a lot and watching older kids. I thought it would be more...
I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I don't have much more to offer than the suggestions already given. But I understand how hard it is when the doctor you run into isn't very understanding. I had a CNM when I had my miscarriage, but they needed a MD to come in and do the ultrasound to make sure he was no longer living. When it was certain he had died, the Dr. said, "Oh, what a bummer." I've never been so angery in my life, and to have that emotion...
I always make sure dads understand that while my first priority is the mom, I'm really there fo both of them. It's unlikely that with baby #5 you'd have a three day labor or something, but in the event that things go long, it takes a whole lot of pressure off of the dad to know he can take a break and eat or sleep or whatever! I feel like I really support the whole family, not just the mom! Good luck!
I don't know where Sylvan Lk is... but I practice in the Ypsilanti/ Ann Arbor area and know a lot of doulas in this area- if it's close, I could send you some email addresses or phone numbers. Or you could try the holistic midwifery institute for a recommendation (i think its holisticmidwifery.org) Good luck!
Hello! I do make all my clients sign a form stating that they understand that I carry no insurance, I am not trained as an OB or a midwive, I am not the person they should come to for life or death medical advise. Under all emergancies, they should call their Health Care Provider. I am there for physical and emotional support and cen tell them what herbs or homeopathy has worked for others in similar situations as theirs. I make a point that I do not purchase or hand...
I really love Birth Works and Birthing From Within.... I didn't find anything helpful from Bradley, just guilt. (no offense- just my experience)
Do you call to check in with clients around their due dates. I felt like I should let them know if I'm going to be away from home, or if I might be hard to reach for some time. But I don't want to bother anyone. Or even just in planning my day, once they are a week overdue or something, I feel like it would be nice to check in with them before committing to anything else for the day. I tell them to call me early in labor, mostly because I need to make sure I have a...
I've been working as a doula since Dec. 2001 and had done 4 births since, but this weekend I did my first paid birth, where they searched me out, signed with me above all others and paid me for my services! I just feel justified finally- that all this training and input from my side will finally be paid off someday! And it was a great birth too by the way
