I know it's been a day since you wrote this but just wanted to add: relaxation is key for me. I don't know if it's possible for you but I try to go at a time when I know I could spend 30 min in the bathroom if I needed to. Just knowing...
I wish I could convince DH to get another dog. He's concerned with home safety but doesn't want another pet. I'm partial to Malinois but I understand they're highly intelligent and high energy so they really need to be kept busy.
