I work f/t right now, but will be going back to university within the next couple years. Then, I'll do a combo of work and school for a few years, then a few years of f/t school (clinical placement), then back to work.
Has anyone ever asked their midwife for a sick leave note?
I live in Canada, and our Employment Insurance will pay us benefits for up to 15 weeks of sick leave prior to maternity leave. I am exhausted, I work in a fast-paced and stressful office and am constantly running into meetings, meeting with students, etc. I suffer from painful PSD, urinary incontinence and a rebellious sciatic nerve.
I rush home from work to 2 toddlers, dinner needing cooking, etc. DH is...
Hi Kis95, I am trying to convince DH to move further east - Ajax or Pickering. Houses are just so much larger and affordable out that way! I want a cookie cutter house in a family subdivision :)
Welcome to Toronto (and Canada), eniksel!
I am pregnant with #3 and suffer with HORRIBLE acne every time. Pre/post pregnancy my skin is flawless, but as soon as we conceive my skin acts like a teenager again. I have huge zits on my cheeks and usually a very oily 1st trimester.
*Nothing* has helped me except delivering my baby :)
I've always loved this topic!
I don't remember exactly what day DS1 was conceived on, I was due to ovulate on Thanksgiving weekend and DH and I dtd every night that weekend.
DS2 was conceived on the day of or day after ovulation (we dtd both nights).
DS3 (or so the u/s says) was conceived on day 19, I am pretty sure I ovulated that day. It was only my 2 pp cycle, so things were still wonky.
I had PPH with DS1, but not with DS2. When I was pregnant with DS2 and asked them if I would hemorrhage again, they weren't concerned. They said maybe, maybe not, but just because I did the first time didn't set me up for it again.
With my first son, my water broke at 3pm, I felt my first (mild) contraction around 5:30pm, was checked into the hospital at 7pm around 3-4cm and he was born at 8:38. So from first contraction to birth was 3 hours. The term 'precipitous' wasn't mentioned at all, but my mw did comment that she had never seen a first time mom deliver as fast as I had (was he delivered in 1 push). DS1's heart rate dropped quite low, I had 3rd degree tearing and p.p. hemorrhaging, mw said...
Both boys collect hotwheels cars, we have these things everywhere!
DS1 went through a rock collecting phase about 6 months ago, he now has a little lunchbox full of interesting looking ones he found along the way.
Currently, he collects money. He got a piggybank earlier this summer; he was allowed to pick out a special 'treat' for himself for some reason, and chose that without having a clue what to do with it (the pig is sparkly and red and wears cool...
SweetKidsOfMine, try searching Canadian Midwifery Student Hopefuls instead of Canadian Student Midwifery Hopefuls. I also need a prerequisite or two, and it appears many in this group are also upgrading or taking credits in order to apply. Reading through the old posts on this page has been super helpful!
Do you have the option to have baby with you 24/7? DS1 was born in a hospital and once my midwives left I was under the care of the nurses (due to hemorrhaging, we were stuck there much longer than expected) . DS1 spent nearly his first 18 hours in my arms and we nursed frequently (or more appropriately, tried to figure out what the heck we were doing!). He didn't leave my sight for a second, and usually when the nurses came in he was latched on. I'm not sure if they...
