i don't know the answer either, but mine hiccups a few times a day, too. my first son hiccupped four times a day like clockwork in utero, and continued the same pattern for almost 3 months after he was born.
you can also use aloe to soothe ... and an ice pack (or cubes or whatever you can get directly on there) to reduce the swelling.
i hope you get relief soon!
