I've never heard of CPS removing children from the home for informed refusal of vaccines…  I'm comfortable signing it because although we chose not to vaccinate due to the risks associated with vaccines, we also understand that there are associated with not vaccinating and I'm comfortable acknowledging them.  To each their own, I suppose.
Did you know that the AAP apparently has a refusal to vaccinate form? I used to get harassed at every pediatrician appt, but we just moved and the new pedi used this instead. We're planning to move again soon so I plan to just sign it before we go in and give it to them with our other forms. I couldn't attach it here, so I'll put it on a hidden page of my website when I get home tonight. You can access it at MandiTheDoula.com/novax. =) Update: Ma2Two posted a better...

The regulation was just updated in November 2013. Here are all versions since 1995: AFI 48-100_IP (dated 07 October 2013), Paragraph 3-5 (b) http://www.apd.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r40_562/main.asp 3-5. Hello, lovely ladies! I'm a newer doula who just moved to a new state. I found out yesterday that there's a baby expo nearby THIS SATURDAY! I'd like to rent a booth, but I'm nervous that having a crappy display will be pointless. Can any of you share ideas? I have a lot of books and equipment (birth balls, model pelvis/baby/placenta, massage tools, cloth diapers, baby carriers, etc). I was thinking of talking about maybe offering 2 minute massages for expectant Mamas...
Yes! We're actually getting on a plane tomorrow to move from Hawaii to central Ohio! =) I'd love to start school as soon as possible, so any recommendations are apperciated. =D
Mint.com is my go-to financial site! It combines budgeting with monitoring your accounts. You link all of your accounts to Mint (without giving them your account numbers) and you have a sort of "control panel." You can see how much is in your checking, savings, and retirement accounts plus your credit cards, loans, mortgage, and any high-value assets you may have. It automatically registers purchases into each budget that you set based on the name of the person paid...
Hello Wise Women! I'm interested in getting in to midwifery, but not sure how... Someone recently told me of an eight-month midwifery course somewhere in Ohio, but I have a suspicion that it was a graduate course for a CNM licensure. Anyone know anything about how to become a CPM in Ohio, or if that's even possible since (to the best of my knowledge) Ohio doesn't recognize CPMs? Also, my Mom (a huge anti-homebirth person) was just telling me that she spoke with a...
That's a really good idea! My first client was a good friend, but she frequently needed something or other. I didn't mind though, since we were so close and I assumed that she was asking for things as a friend, not as a client. Although I was her primary doula, she also had another (more experienced) doula as well. A couple of days before she gave birth, we were discussing my business. She advised me not to share with my clients that my daughter was so young (she was...
Hello, lovely Ladies! My name is Mandi. I currently live in Hawaii but will be moving back to Marion, Ohio from February 2013 to February 2014 while my husband is deployed. I am a birth junkie. I'm a birth doula and childbirth educator. I'm also training to be a placenta encasulation specialist, breastfeeding educator, and postpartum doula. I know it's a lot, but I really enjoy the field and hope to one day become a CPM. I was wondering about the birthing climate...
