I was doing well, but lately I have been eating too much before bed. I am teaching 5 yoga classes a week and finding it hard to find time to fit cardio and weights into my schedule.
Devil's Lake is great - we have camped there a few times. In the fall we go near South Bend, Indiana to Potato Creek State Park. Nice State Park, bike trails, canoe rentals. We go apple picking. Last August we went to Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore in Michigan. It was awesome and we are going back this August. I guess it is about a 5 hour drive. In Southern IL, Giant City has great hiking. There is alot of good camping near Carbondale. In...
I bought a gift this morning for a 9 year old boy (birthday party for my son's friend this Sat). I went with a bathing suit and beach towel. I tried to think "what does this kid need?" (nothing); "what would I want my kid to get?" (something that I will need to buy or spend money on). So I was between: clothes, movie theatre gift certificate, book store gift certificate, sporting equipment. I opted for the bathing suit and towel because it seemed like "fun clothes"...
SaraBravo - You are getting alot of advice and you asked, so I will add my words. Please don't join the military... and don't think that if you join the Reserves or that National Guard that it will be any less intense. My sister was deployed to Iraq last year and she is safely home, but there were many women with small children that served in her National Guard medical unit. Look into other options. You sound like a very resourceful woman - you can forge a...
Sorry to have dropped out for awhile - life got really busy! I will say that grantwriting/communications seems to be a good part-time gig, but I have very busy times and it is hard to balance. I do like working for a school, but not being a teacher and being part-time makes me kind of invisible. Also, don't have any benefits and work when teachers and other staff are on breaks (winter break/ spring break). I work summers and July is a super busy month for me -...
Love Ohm - You remind me so much of myself! I replied to your post about how much yoga instructors earn. I wanted to reply here too - I totally agree that you may want to focus on the most efficient way to earn money if your goal is to have time to write. Teaching yoga is not an efficient way to earn money - and it is alot less flexible than it seems. Finding a sub if I have a sick child or when I am sick or on vacation is a logistical challenge. I LOVE teaching...
I average about $40 a class, sometimes as much as $85-$100, but sometimes as little as $25 if attendance is low due to bad weather, nice weather, holidays, seasonal changes. Right now I teach 5 classes a week: 4 classes that are set rates - two classes at $40 and two classes at $50. I teach one class where I am paid $6.50 per student. Anyway, that is about average for an experienced teacher in Chicago who is not doing teacher-trainings and special workshops - I...
Hey everyone - I was in Florida last week visiting my parents with my kids. I haven't checked in for awhile. I didn't do any yoga while I was in Florida, but I ate less junk and I definately relaxed (walking/ playing with the kids). Since coming back home I eased back into the treadmill and yoga. I did ten minutes of each the other day and today I taught yoga and meet my friend at the gym and we talked while on the treadmill for 45 min. That is totally unusual - I...
I am currently teaching 5 classes a week and I work my other job 15 hours (M/W/F). I think it may be a bit too much. My kids are 4 and 8 and my 4 year old is only in preschool a few hours a day. I feel stretched a bit too thin. I teach two early morning classes (Wed/Fri 7-8am before I go to my office job), two mid-morning classes (T/Thu 9:30-10:45 and I take my daughter to the childcare at the YMCA during yoga and then take her to afternoon preschool), and one...
Way to go to everyone who is doing so well! I'm sure that I have not lost any weight, but I am doing okay. I am noticing when I turn down sweets and I am noticing when I am tempted to eat when I am not hungry. I went out for Mexican food last night with some girlfriends and I did NOT finish everything on my plate. I LOVE to eat and I will usually keep eating long after I feel full, so that was a good step for me. I am going to Florida in 6 days and I went...
