My son is in third grade and none of that stuff has come up yet. My son goes to an urban public school and the biggest offenses so far are potty jokes and standardized tests.
I TOTALLY Agree with this: "Older kids are so much easier. So from 0-1 - hard 1-2 - a bit easier 2-3 - hard (dd2 had a hard time learning sharing and social skills) 3-4 - easier 4-5 - easy - It is awesome to see my baby turn into a girl who is responsible for herself." My kids are 4 and 8 now and I LOVE that they can feed themselves, dress themselves, even bathe!!! It is so much less physically demanding. I loved my babies, but they were constantly...
About age 5. Although we did have an incident at a family gathering where the kids (ages 4-7) called 911 because my SIL got bit by her toddler. She was joking and said "call 911, I need a paramedic!" and the kids ran down in the basement and called. The 911 service called right back and we explained. Oops - that was embarrassing for my SIL!
I don't know anyone who spends $250 a month to work out. I think $100 a month is plenty! Your gym membership sounds good. A family membership to our YMCA is almost $70/month. I think an occassional personal training session or group pt session is worth it if it helps you stay motivated. And I agree that a heart rate monitor, good shoes, occassional new work out clothes are all reasonable expenses. I have a very cheap healthclub membership that I don't use very...
My goal is to eat between 5-8 servings of fruits and veggies a day, drink A LOT more water, less coffee, curb bed-time snacking and increase my cardio exercise. I need to drastically reduce sweets and start becoming aware of calories. I ate two raspberry netwons yesterday and I was surprised that was 100 calories. I could easily eat 8 and that would be 400 calories. I did okay today. I ate fairly healthy and I taught yoga. Yesterday I bought some reduced fat salad...
Okay, I changed a load of laundry, put away a bunch of kids shoes, tidied up a bedroom and returned some crayons, toys, etc to their homes. What did you get done in your 15 minute cleaning spree?
and then I will be back to see if anyone else did the same. Go!!!!
I would like to lose 15 lbs. Can I join you? My "good weight" is 135 and it has been creeping up over the past few years. I was at the doctor recently and I weighed 150. I am 39 and have two kids - ages 8 and 4. I work part-time in an office (sit on my butt and occassionlly wander past the candy bowl) and I teach yoga a few times a week. I struggle with getting enough aerobic exercise, weight training and cutting junk out of my diet. We recently bought a treadmill...
We didn't encourage our son to join Cub Scouts because we feel that the discrimination thing was against our core beliefs. My husband's best friend and our son's godfather is openly gay. However, we are practicing Catholics and there are plenty of Catholic teachings that also are against our basic beliefs. We remain in the Church (and now have joined Cub Scouts) because we do believe that change comes from within. Anyway, last year our son really wanted to join...
I explained that the mom has an egg and the dad has a seed. The dad gives the mom the seed to make the baby grow inside the mom's body. In response to the question "how does the seed get inside the mom's body", I answer: "I don't know how to explain that part to you yet". That is the truth - I don't know how to explain that in a way that wouldn't freak my kids out and have them telling all their friends. For my kids, this is enough info for now.
