if it is a publicly traded company, the share price is PUBLIC. I don't know where to tell you to look (because I don't know where you are and where the company is!) but the company website is a good place to start. You can count on a transaction fee (unless, like I suggested, your current financial services provider would agree to undertake the trade at no charge) but you should be able to get the share price in under a minute from the company web site or a stock listing...
stock certificates = common shares. In the "olden days," shares of a company were issued on certificates and were called "stock certificates." Now, they are typically issued electronically with a paper receipt, and are just called what they are, which is "common shares" (as opposed to preferred shares, which are another form of shares). It may be difficult for you to find a purchaser for only two shares of stock, because there may be a limited market for two single...
the MCC sequel is "Simply in Season" -- a beautiful cookbook! go to www.simplyinseason.org for more info!
jumping in to say we did this, too, when I decided to stay home full-time with baby no. 2. Here's what we did: switched to a no-fee bank account (about $20/month savings). Cancelled newspaper subscriptions (another $20/month). Cancelled second phone line and got rid of cell phone (this saved an unbelievable amount -- probably $500 month). Changed deductibles on all our insurance ($100/month). Downgraded internet connection ($25/month). Stopped getting my hair...
Here's what I do: Grate a bar of Dr. Bronner's bar soap. Add water to cover and simmer on the stove until the soap is totally melted. Then put into a big, lidded pail with 32 cups hottest tap water and 2 cups washing soda OR borax, plus whatever essential oil is handy. Stir and enjoy. Add 1-2 Tb per wash.
way to throw your sucker in the dirt, Jutta. If you can't have it your way, no one can have Friday Night Suppers, I guess. Bah!
unfortunately, there is news: Jutta has posted a new newsletter to the dufferinpark.ca website, with more sneering, condescending and hostile stuff to say about breastfeeding in any way that she does not personally approve of. Here's a paste of *part* of it: "Once in a while, a breastfeeding mother exposes more of herself than usual, perhaps forgetting that she's not in her living room, but rather in a mixed-age/ mixed-gender/ mixed-culture/ mixed-income rink house....
I like the sound of the quiet nurse-in - however, what concerns me is that the "policy" on the official-sounding dufferinpark.ca website is unlikely to be changed unless a force greater than Jutta (the city?) brings about a change. We wouldn't tolerate an openly racist "policy" requiring Jews, or same-sex couples, or Aboriginal peoples to sit in the washroom for the comfort of others (although it is "quite big" and has a "pretty cushion"!) - I'm just left worried that...
she's a volunteer, not a paid staff person. Although apparently she can make policy about bf'ing in a public space - a city-owned park to boot! I'm there for the nurse-in. Hell, I'm willing to be rowdy, even if my little nursling isn't up for it! Please keep the letters coming! Even if you don't live in Toronto and have never been to Dufferin Park Grove - what is happening here is NOT OKAY and they need to keep hearing that over and over.
Even if you don't live in Toronto, please consider writing a letter to the park at the e-mail address posted by Venal, above (and you can copy it to the local councillor at councillor_giambrone@toronto.ca ). Please let the park and the city know that the protection and support of nursing mamas and their children is not just a local issue - but a global issue. And that women everywhere will speak out on behalf of nursing mamas and their children.
