I took my 17yo, 11yo, and 4yo to see it yesterday. We all loved it! 17yo DS said it was the best movie he'd seen in a long time and he's usually a very tough critic. I would be very happy to see it again.
Candyland is a must have, of course! My 4yo loves Dr Suess's Super Stretchy ABC game. Adults will enjoy playing it a little bit less; it's a cute game but really not designed for tall people.
My older DSs (now 17, 16, & 14) never really did play make believe. They were always more into sports, video games, and building with legos, that sort of stuff. I used to try to get them to play pretend with me and they'd just look...
My oldest DS is Malachi (pronounced Mal- a- KEYE.. rhymes with EYE). I think it's more common now than it was when he was born almost 18 years ago, but still pretty unusual. I think it goes nicely with Leiken.
My 4.5 yo DS has been more difficult to handle lately then he ever has before. Seriously. It's not that he's BAD, it's just that he... never... stops... talking, singing (loudly- always loudly), jumping up and down, getting into stuff...

I couldn't read and not reply. I'm going through that same grieving process right now and it's horrible, second guessing myself all the time. What I keep saying to myself is that one good single parent is better than two parents together...

These stories are so helpful, everybody, I'm so glad you shared. I've been feeling very down today, but reading here has helped. If so many others can do it, and come out happier on the other side, I guess I can too!
