just add a little to the rise and inseam, you can just fold up/down at first... but two nb size would probably be plenty. to be honest, it's kinda hard to get longies on a brand newbie, they're so scrunched up, kwim?
i made one for my little boy, he only wore it a few times but i don't think it's too girly. i can share pics if you want - it was an easy knit!
