We unschool....but my ds wants to go to first grade in the fall. I'll let him try it and if he doesn't like it we'll go back to the same stuff we do everyday. We don't do lessons, we have Saxon math, bob books, that collect dust...my kids find things that intrest them and then we just go with it....we don't do lessons, but if my ds pulls out a math work book we go through it together. He plays cd roms, watches videos, we read books, he explores outside, he makes things...

These are cracking me up!!! It is bad enough they say somethng embarrassing but when they say it about you, it goes way beyond embarrassing!! A few years ago we were grocery shopping and I had to go to the bathroom really bad...I dragged my sons in the stall with me then a new born and a 2 1/2 yo...cause when you gotta go you gotta go!!! So after that we go to the checkout my dear son then proceeded to tell everyone in line and again to the cashier that his mom smelled...
For our 2 boys we paid a sitter $5 an hour. No me that seems fair. I remember what I used to make years ago.... I also remember I used to pick up after the kids, do dishes and have the house cleaner than when the parents left it. Ihaven't had yet one sitter who has done dishes. Ofcourse the number one thing I'm most concerned about is taking care of the kids and I have never asked that dishes get done....just would be nice to be surprised by it! Our perfect sitter...
Found this cool websitewww.flylady.net and it has all sorts of info for decluttering your house. It's pretty funny too if you need a good laugh! So I thought I'd try to declutter the boys room and was going through a toy box and kept smelling pee...found at the bottom pee! So my decluttering turned into washing the toys and waste basket! Ugh! But I did get something accomplished! One bag of trash, and one bag to go to goodwill! I know the babies won't be...
All the suggestions are really great. Since the long weekend is over we are going to comncentrate more on the room today, also it is rainy so that helps to do an inside job! Yesterday we found a lost library book that we have been looking for for weeks. Had Late fees mailed to us, so I didn't even know ot was lost till we got the $2 late fee notice! I renewed it twice with hopes we'd find it and not have to buy it for $12! Maybe we'll find some more treasures...
I would say we are more towards unschooling than homeschooling. We don't do regular lessons, we do what we feel like doing. I have some saxon books we'll go through, but our schooling is very relaxed. Still I think of it as an added pressure for some reason, feel like I'm measured how well my son learns and succeeds since I am the primary one at home with him. He has been talking of school which gives me all sorts of mixed feelings. The toy dilemna, I'm going...
After I got done posting and baby was asleep, I went downstairs and my 4yo was asleep on the chair! My older son and I went our ane planted flowers, made lunch and the afternoon was much better. I have read " How to talk so your Kids can listen..." a long time ago...I should probably re read it. My older one and I clash so much and homeschooling him makes things even harder. momofthreecuties
I'm am truly on the verge of a nervous breakdown...my boys are constantly fighting and tattling on each other. I never know who did what when they aren't in the same room with me. In fact as I just wrote those lines my youngest comes in the room crying...which I specifically told them both to play nicely for a little bit while I came upstairs to nurse the baby, to get her a nap since she is over tired and teething. He woke her up some but she is sleepy now and nursing...
I just posted in the diaper rash thread but it is ooking like my baby might have allergies....we're going straight breast milk till we can figure things out...she's 11 mos.... momofthreecuties
