Try an active form of meditation....yoga. It is the only way I can meditate with a very spirited toddler (of course, she is napping when I practice). There are many tapes & cds out there. I love Shiva Rea's Yoga Sanctuary. Probably not for beginners but definitely a great cd. Good beginning tapes are AM & PM Yoga. Total Yoga is good, too. And I totally agree with LadyLee about mindfulness, as well. Books by Jon Kabat-Zinn are a good place to start if you are...
Sleepies, Your story reminds me of one my MIL told me. Her youngest, who is 12 years younger than my dh, was very high needs and she had the financial means to stay home with him until he started school. She loved being able to stay home with him and enjoyed playing with him. Her friends were always telling her she needed to find a sitter so she could "get away" and have some time to herself as well as letting her little one gain some independence. She finally decided...
I read that piece earlier today. I am so glad that Byrd has been speaking out. I just wish there were more politicians that had his guts to do so.
El Casey S, I still have not gotten through everything on that site that I posted: http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/index2.html And you are right, everything there can be easily proven save the documents which used to be open public record that are now being suppressed by the administration. I am now going through the "latest updates" portion of this website which documents the erosion of our freedoms/rights over the last few years. ...
I don't believe everything I read on the internet either, but I also don't believe the #@%$ we are being fed by the mainstream press. Not every Republican likes Bush. My dh, a die hard MODERATE republican can't wait for '04. He said that it can't come soon enough. He called Bush the other day a facist (Quote: Fascism is an extreme right-wing ideology which embraces nationalism as the transcendent value of society. The rise of Fascism relies upon the manipulation...
Radiation poisoning feared from Iraq looting http://www.washtimes.com/world/20030513-5521632.htm "As Saddam Hussein's regime collapsed last month, villagers began looting barrels of uranium oxide, known as "yellow cake," from the site, which they then emptied to use to store water, milk and yogurt. In Al Riyadh village, about a mile from the site, 13-year-old El Tifat Nasser fell ill after her brothers visited the facility a dozen times and returned with...
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=15863 Lucinda Marshall writes, "Forgive my cynicism about Mother's Day. After all, what kind of ungrateful mother wouldn't want to be honored with pesticide-laced flowers, chocolate that depends on children in slavery for its production and cards that deplete our forests and litter Mother Earth? Truly, it is the ultimate insult to honor life-giving with such toxic offerings."
Check out this wonderful speech given by MSNBC's Asheigh Banfield. She gave this speech at Kansas State University for the Landon Lecture, an annual lecture series named for Alf Landon, former head of the Republican party and presidential candidate in 1936, from Kansas who also for a time supported the Progressive Party. I hope she doesn't lose her job over this. Please read the entire transcript. It is very...
Abimommy, I live in the county you mention. I do think that POC are pulled over more frequently than others in this county. There are so many WY county license plates in my part of the county that it would be hard to pull all of them over (I'm just across the county line) and we also have lots of MO license plates(I'm just across the state line, as well). I have noticed that most who are pulled over are POC with plates other than JO. And it usually takes 3 police...
Can you believe he said this? "We ought to be beating our chests every day. We ought to look in a mirror and get proud and stick out our chests and suck in our bellies and say: 'Damn, we're Americans!'," Jay Garner told reporters, saying that Iraq's oil fields and other infrastructure survived the war almost intact. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...iraq_garner_dc And it just validates Norman Mailer's opinion: http://www.truthout.org/docs_03/050103F.shtml
