Imakerka, it's not about Kathy or what you think she's alluding to, and we're not talking about members or "certain people." Edit your post or I can delete it for you.
dinahx, this post was way out of line and personally attacking Rrrrrachel. Edit it or I can delete it for you.
I appreciate that the sentiment was to apologize and smooth some ruffled feathers; but since this is about posters, and not a vax-related topic, I'm gonna have to lock this down now.
So this thread is about pharma shills and their potential actions on this board and not at all about any pro-vax members or specific posts or posting habits, because that would of course be against the user agreement. I guess a poll about whether or not folks think pharmaceutical representatives are lurking on MDC is within the UA; but it's a fine, fragile line, ladies, so proceed with caution!!
For the sake of clarification, a pharma shill is someone who is paid by pharmacuetical companies (or others) with financial interest in encouraging sales of vaccines or western prescription or OTC medicine, right? I'm guessing that would fall under the definition of spam, and I have definitely banned a fair share of viagra sales people. Also, I am fairly certain that none of our advertisers or insiders are associated with pharmaceutical companies.
Many of those papers appear to have nothing to do with vaccines or autism (from the titles, anyway). I also wouldn't be terrible concerned about the published dates since it takes FOREVER to get articles through the review and approval process and then actually published. I also don't think you have to be a saint to do good science. That said, if a client gave me $1million to do a research study for them, they'd expect to see a $1million product. If I put half that...
My insurance does cover flu shots, with no copay, even. They send out annual mailings in the late summer/fall reminding folks of it as well. I also know of several doctors recommending pertussis boosters for new parents or, of course, tetanus with some kinds of injuries. I wonder if part of it is because there really aren't that many adult vaxes/boosters that are recommended for everyone: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/downloads/adult/adult-schedule-easy-read.pdf
I'm going to leave this thread locked. While it may have been intended as a joke, it comes across as a dig on non-vaxers, which would not be contributing to the "respectful and comfortable" atmosphere referenced in our UA. Thanks for understanding.
After further consideration, I'm going to leave this thread locked. While it may have been intended as a joke, several have indicated that it comes across as a dig on vaxers, which would not be contributing to the "respectful and comfortable" atmosphere referenced in our UA.
