Do you all feel really empowered?
After months of reading, I finally feel empowered. I felt stupid among other things like guilt for awhile until a lot of this started to sink in. The books I mentioned above finally helped me clear the fog. Of course surrounding myself with folks on this board who logically go through the issues helps a ton I think or I may have been second guessing my decision for a long time.
If I had a ped that spent as much time as that person does on the net spewing untruths, I'd fire the doc in a heartbeat.
Of course this is the same person who told me that unvaccinated children do not deserve a public education. Such ignorance.
And yes, it is the same one.
I could also have written your post about 8 months ago. My daughter had a seizure from her 2 month shots, I had NO clue what path that would lead me.
Please check out these two books:
http://www.cure-guide.com/Vaccine_Gu...ine_guide.html (I also got this guy's child health guide which is hands down one of the best ever books I've read on children's health)
They helped me SO much with clarity on this...
A really great vaccine guide and also a great website is here: www.cure-guide.com
Another good internet radio show is www.hpakids.org
It's good to make sure you find a supportive doc that lets YOU be the parent.
Vaccinating for pertussis can be very risky too. They just do not tell you that at the doc's office. I found out the hard way. My 2 mo. old after her shots ended up in the hospital..seizure. Wasn't fun and after being warned by the hospital that I may not want to continue with vaccinations for her, I was completely puzzled why her ped at the time wanted to continue. I did some reading and am skipping the rest of the vaxes.
did you start vaccinating and then stop?
This is what I did. I didn't know better until my child ended up with a seizure after her 2 month shots. I wish I had read up on it more. After doing all the reading I have, I'm flabbergasted at what I was not told by her doctor that I ended up firing. Thankfully I now have a better doctor that understands the negatives of vaccinating and supports my choice.
