This is what I have on our bed and love it.  It is under a mattress pad.  My husband hated and complained about a EVA shower curtain because he claimed it made him sweat, even through the mattress pad, but we have used this cover without the mattress pad no problem.  It looks and feels like fabric, and is coated with polyurethane (a food safe plastic, like what most foods come wrapped in) but you can't see it, hear it, or feel it, it behaves like fabric.  I'd really...
I have a dust mite/allergen/waterproof mattress protector with no PVC.  I would NOT use a regular PVC shower curtain-they offgas for ages, and they stink!  However, I think the EVA shower curtains are a good alternative.  They have no detectable odor (to me at least, and I am extremely sensitive to smells) and are much more nontoxic.  I have seen them at stores like Burke's and Marshalls and I know Target carries some.   Definitely lanolize the blanket if you stick...
A good friend of mine picked up a wooden odd shaped stool (sort of like a split bicycle seat) at a flea market-it turned out to be a midwife's squatting stool-low to the ground so your legs would still be up, with a space to deliver.  Isn't that neat!  I need to take a picture of it the next time I visit her house.
I researched and was convinced that amount of echinacea was okay, just not for super ptolongrd periods. I certainly felt that it was better than the likelihood of extended hospitalization, testing, and unnecessary antibiotics, which due to my history, I felt a high chance of if my status remained (+)
In your instance I would get the shot rather than worry for the remaining 4 wks if things were okay.   I am (-), my husband is (+).  I got the shot at 28 wks during both of my first two pregnancies, after as well for my 2nd son because his type was (+), and I declined it for my third.  My OB(who just happened to be a very natural friendly, high-risk maternal/fetal medicine specialist) for the third said (and I looked it up, it is true) the chance of blood mixing in...
I quit all caffeine for my first 3 pregnancies, except for a little tea on occasion. For my fourth I drank 2 and sometimes 3 big cups a day, telling myself studies showed it was okay, and then miscarried at ~5wks.  May have been just a coincidence, or perhaps I could stomach it because my hormones weren't high enough or something, but for my next pregnancy (my 4th child, 5th preg) I couldn't even stomach the smell of coffee a week before I even tested positive.  The same...
I have declined it every pregnancy.  This time my OB strongly pushed it at my initial 7 wk visit, and asked me to review the "new research" before deciding, and handed me a paper stating that "thimerosol has never been shown to cause harm"  (which is false, and skirting the issue because it has never been tested in pregnant women) AND that the "flu shot is safe in any trimester"  (it has NOT been tested in pregnant women and the vaccine insert clearly states as such, and...
I was GBS(-) for my first and then GBS(+) for my second and third babies.  For my third I tried boosting vitamin C, garlic, and probiotics.  I was still (+) after several weeks of trying, but I wasn't doing it intensively.  For my fourth pregnancy I did NOT want to be GBS(+) again, so I decided to go at it full force.  My Bradley teacher had given me this protocol that a midwife had successfully used to eradicate it in her patients, and I did it religiously for 4 wks...
Oh, FYI, if you don't know better already, "What to expect when you are expecting" is horrible and negative.  DON'T read it. :)
I can't start thinking about birth until at least my 2nd trimester, then I have to process it and prepare.  In my first trimester, I'm not ready for processing all that yet (and this is my 5th, lol!)   I just finished reading Lovely Bones (dropped off at my house by a friend).  It was slightly out of my normal genre, but although eery, it was captivating to see where the author's imagination was taking the storyline. I also just finished Evidence of Harm (I was...
