Thanks Tanya. We tried to check some out at the Library but it's closed until Monday I hope we find a good selection. Different foods all around may spark her tastebuds (wishful thinking ). I talked to my mom earlier (she had 5 kids in 6 years!) and she said there were many times we didn't eat dinner, just cereal afterwards at times. Many months went by when we ate only one thing. She remembers us all being skinny :LOL Now I eat *everything*! Just had my...
I've been getting a newsletter from Complete Mother for the past year, it's quite good: http://www.completemother.com I have yet to find anything like MDC! :\
My 8 year old DD is stuck on rotating 4 dishes (all pasta!) for lunch and dinner. Can anyone recommend a good kids cook book, with pictures. She loves to help me with my daily tasks and I think if I can get her to cook from a kid friendly book she might try more foods. Being hands on and following instructions (from a book) she just might eat it. If anyone has gone this route already and found something better or eaiser, I'd love to hear what worked. TIA!
The only cream I use on my baby's bums is Lansinoh (http://www.lansinoh.com/dafault.htm). 100% medical grade pure lanolin (no perfumes or any other possible irritants). It sticks and protects really well (doesn't wash out of clothes so be careful). Air out often if you can. I don't have any other thoughts for a really bad rash (sorry!). I had a few extra tubes of the stuff after learning to BF my first one (lovingly referred to as baracuda baby) and I think I may...
My DD, just a week over 2 mos old, had a horrible (raspy, congested and deep sounding) cough about 3 weeks ago. She's fine now but I'll give you some details if it helps. It started off as a cough and then became worse - congested and stuffed up. Whenever she woke up I had to use that nose bulb syrynge to clear her but there was always stuff/mucous stuck at the back of her mouth/throat that made her sound awful (hacking like an 'ole smoker sound)! She gagged and...
I've had to do this with older kids and one or two adults. I let them know that after they say "no" often my dd it causes a few problems: first off she copies the behavior and yells "no" at her toys and to me as well; secondly, if I really need to say "no" to her - like if she's running out into the street - she won't understand the difference between "NO, don't play with that" and "NO, stop NOW". So I've asked kids and adults to say something like "oh, thank...
People don't change, grandparents are pretty much set in their ways (what you see is what you get). Knowing that, work with what you can so that there's a good relationship between grandparents-grandchild. Pick the positive things and work with or foster that aspect, otherwise you'll drive yourself nuts over it. As your child gets older it will be easier and you'll probably be less apprehensive leaving him with them. As far as the dysfunctional family behavior, just...
I'd stay home but if you can't, 2 things I did when flying cross country with my first DD (who was under a year at the time) was bring a water mister (spray the air in front of them from time to time - although take care it's not seen as a threatening activity to other passengers) and some sort of lubricant-jelly to put in/around the baby's nose so it doesn't dry out. I'm sure there's other/better advice out there, HTH.
I found a cold/flu chart on the CDC site since I'm not sure how to tell if it's a cold or flu: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/ http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/coldflu.htm It's got a lot of other flu related information that may be helpful to you.
I thought I'd share a site where I purchased a book that I adore: http://www.barefootbooks.com/ Bear's Busy Family (love the art work, bear family activities-cooking-sewing-gardening-etc and word rhyms throughout) http://www.barefoot-books.com/us/ind...age=38&pid=675 Child's Book of Faeries (actually saw the author read from this book at a bookstore, DD enjoys being read this one) http://www.barefoot-books.com/us/ind...ge=38&pid=1362 They have so many others...
