So, DD threw up on her Robeez (leather, soft-soled shoes). Everything is clean, but the leather soles still smell really BAD.

My DD is 3 also, and we haven't even introduced the concept (or word!) of "lie". She has a very vivid imagination and believes that her dolls pee on the floor sometimes
We used to ask her directly, and we would get outlandish stories. So, we've taken the approach that the PPs mentioned above: We state what happened (no questions asked), then move/talk about "fixing" the issue.
So far, so good, but I know it is VERY hard for DH and I to *not* ask, "What happened...
We've done a few "local" moves before we had kids. We've always done a combination of packing in boxes and just tossing stuff in the car.
We used wardrobe boxes for our hanging clothes - it was so much easier than laying them across the back of a car. The boxes are tall enough for you to put some lighter objects (like pillows) in the bottom too.
We used the car for our more expensive/fragile items -- stereo, computers, etc.

It's not as much as I had hoped to get out there, but I will just schedule them to come again in a month or two.
