I make a lot with mine besdies smoothies- some of our favorites are salsa, soups, dips, and hummus. I haven't tried making nut butters yet. I do wonder about mine too though. I got mine in a co op and I don't know if it's how it is supposed to be. Sometimes it seems to be excessively loud and not quite on right.
I've had my kefir grains for several years now, and while I think they recently stopped growing, they seemed to be making kefir just fine. I've always followed instructions pretty carefully. At one point I used marginally sour raw milk, after reassurance that it was fine. Maybe that doesn't make a difference, but I noticed that it took several batches til it tasted non-sour. ANYWAY last batch I was straining and could not find them! After restraining, it seems they broke...
True, although if you ask elsewhere, it's going to be completely biased as well, and will possibly scare her into thinking that she's going polio at the local Dominicks. Yeah one of the things I love about living in the suburbs is that it's not nearly as homogenous and conservative as I thought, AND AND I get more respect as a SAHM. Yeah I read the news, but for now as a SAHM and barely pt wahm, I have no desire to hear all the public discourse bashing mothers and SAHMs that I hear so often when I dip my foot in the topic online elsewhere, or when I am out with childless friends. Also that "lock your daughter up" humor? It's not even...

Well the kids are probably thrilled if mom thinks a ghost is ordering the porn. We had a raccoon in our attic that we had to call an expert for. They were pretty quiet for a while- it was hard to believe it was up there. We thought it was a squirrel.

It's a strong word, an overused word, etc. But yeah, I just don't think a little kid is intending to make it such a heavy word.
I don't see the point in talking about race unless it comes up like it did with the OP's child or if the child is old enough to handle and understand issues of discrimination and racism or the complex topic in general. I just think it's interesting that my son had playmates of different races and never once mentioned their skin color. My other son (was 3.5 then) literally described the only black man in the room as "the man in the green shirt with curly hair" when...
