For international adoption, your husband's condition might very well pose a problem. The first question that comes to my mind is: Can you travel overseas, or would you have to adopt from a country that allows children to be escorted? Internationally, countries are slowing down and closing at alarming rates.    For domestic infant adoption, your husband's condition is probably not going to be a problem. You'd just need a doctor's note.
Asking for a friend...    Does anyone know of a no-vax or selective/delayed vax friendly pediatrician in the Kaiser network? We're in Antioch.    Thanks!   ~Robyn
Understood. I just wanted to know that I'm right.
Thanks! This is what I wanted to know.    The danger of the chicken pox vax is that it's bringing chicken pox to adults and shingles to kids. Anyone who has had chicken pox or the chicken pox vax can get shingles. Usually, senior citizens get it. But, because the chicken pox vax isn't all that effective, and it's not effective for very long, adults are starting to get chicken pox. Meanwhile, younger people are getting shingles. Shingles is very very painful, too.    The...
A woman asked if there was any reason to vax on a delayed schedule. Almost everyone posted no. One person posted that her child had a serious reaction to vaccines, so they didn't vax for medical reasons. I posted that vaccination should be a choice and included a list of everything in the first batch of vaccines.   Under normal circumstances, I would have stayed out of it, but, given the topic, I thought I was being neutral enough. Apparently I was wrong.    I...
Hi,   I've been a non-vaxing parent for 5.5 years now, so I'm usually pretty good at letting pro-vax comments go. But there's one that always gets to me: The unvaccinated are a threat to all people.   I know that people who have had the IPV vax can still be carriers for polio. I believe that the other contagious diseases and vaccines (measles, for example) create the same effect. I know I read the IPV info here.    It's hard to find arguments that refute the...
If you're trying to get private insurance - insurance that is not through the state, work, or a similar type of group - they can deny you for anything they want. We were denied because we're adopting again, and adoption means we're expectant parents, and "they" don't cover that. It's truly insane and completely wrong, but the insurance companies can do whatever they want.
Niggardly and "the n word" do not have a common etymology. http://transracial.adoptionblogs.com...-spade-a-spade Thank you cappuccinosmom for the suggestion. I'm going to file it away for when my son hears it...
No. Diphteria is no longer an issue in the United States, or most of the world. It's big in Russia, apparently. It's spread through contaminated water and close living conditions. I found out what the symptoms of diphtheria are, and now I know what to do in the extremely unlikely event that my son gets it. Tetanus bacteria is anaerobic. They cannot live in air. Rust has nothing to do with it. To get tetanus, a person needs to cut themselves, deeply, on an item that...
That's BS. California allows a philosophical objection to vaccines. Even so, that only matters when the child goes to school. The state cannot withhold benefits from you for not following the recommended vaccination schedule. Here's a thread that might help: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...57#post7641657 Good luck!
