I consider myself to be pretty laid back and am all for letting kids be kids. However, we as adults have the benefits of knowledge and life experience to help us assess risk. Young children do not so we have to intervene sometimes. There are plenty of other ways for Daddy to have fun with his daughter without risking a head injury. This was my thought as well. I've learned wonderful things about pits as a breed here but I do not think it's the right dog for a first time dog owner with 3 young kids.

We installed one of these... http://www.petco.com/product/102309/...-Pet-Door.aspx I highly recommend it! Our cats got the hang of it very quickly.
