I am totally with you on this! I get so excited when I save a lot on my grocery bill...I have even been known to text DH with the amount I saved I am so glad I have this forum where I can share my frugal accomplishments!
My children are constantly asking for art and craft projects, but I find they spend the most time and have the most fun with open-ended projects where you just give them a bunch of supplies. You could just go to the dollar store and get construction paper, glue, watercolors, pipe cleaners, and glitter. or you could even do a "recycled art" party where you give them glue and newspaper and toilet paper rolls and magazines, etc. Lanterns made from glass jars, tissue...
$10.97 drinks from McD's
Today I chaperoned on a field trip with my son's class. Brought DD and grandma watched the baby. All of that was free. I packed 3 lunches (and snacks) for us. The only bad thing is that the day was longer than expected and I didn't pack quite enough food so we went thru the drive thru while quickly getting back to I could nurse the baby!
I still have to tally up all of my spending for Jan and I am interested to see exactly...
a. Who you are
Mama of 3 (7, 4, 11mos). DH works full time and I have 2 part-time jobs. One job is very irregular and the other one may be ending soon
b. Where you are going (your financial goals)
Right now we are just trying to stay afloat and not incur any more debt. Pay off credit cards when we can.
c. How you plan to get there
I finally kept close track of our spending in January so I want to really work on the budget. Basically no unecessary spending,...
Well, we are really blowing it at the end of the month! *sigh*, I blame sleep deprivation and stress.
Last night DH ended up taking my mom and the kids to the restaurant fundraiser and spending around $40 The only good thing is that the school got $8 of that.
DH spent $20-something at the drugstore (not so bad, we needed wipes and a prescription). I spent almost $40 on books for the kids (fundraiser for the other kid's school). Quick grocery trip...
fast food breakfast for me and DD $7.84
a box of kleenex and somef daffodils (for DS's classroom) $5.38
I had a groupon for $50 worth of clothing from american apparel (paid $25 for it a while ago). I bought some clothing for the kids. My total was $51.50 plus tax, shipping was free, and I got a free gift for spending over $50. So $5.62 out of pocket.
Today I baked a loaf of gluten free bread from a mix. Not sure yet how it turned out--it looks...
We were in a similar boat. I have 3 children and I am currently working 2 part-time jobs. Luckily I work from home and can make my own hours--I work evenings and weekends when the kids are either asleep or my DH can watch them. And sometimes when the older 2 are in school my mom watches the baby so I can work.
Well, I guess I need to be even more commited to pinching those pennies. I just found out today that I may or may not be losing one of my part time jobs
Spent $1.75 on a cup of coffee so I could work from the bagel shop instead of home (I noticed that they offer $1 coffee if you bring in any travel mug so next time I will do that). Also, DH took me out for lunch (first "date" we've had in months). It was around $35 but I think we should have a date at...
