I don't know about the parks/playgrounds, but you won't be too far from my favorite Mexican food place, Lupe Tortilla's!
They have an AWESOME sand play area that my kids absolutely love.
Sorry, my baby stuff is currently in use, but I thought you might find this link useful: www.rockabyebabyrentals.com. I've not used this service and don't really know much about them, but I used a similiar service when we travelled to Phoenix a few years ago and it worked out great!
If you're staying at a hotel you might ask for their recommendations. In Phoenix DH's conference was at a very very nice hotel with a concierge that pointed us toward the rental place. ...
Some of the Babies R Us stores are only half of a store (like ours, Shwarma!)
The one on I-45 at El Dorado (Clear Lake area) is huge. You may be able to start your registry in the store and add to it online, or it may not even be necessary to go into the store. I think for Target you have to actually go into the store in person to start it, but you can add to it online.
The first time I went into B-R-Us I wanted to turn and run! I was so overwhelmed---I thought, I...
Vaporizer, or in a pinch, a humidifier. You say it's not really keeping her from sleeping, and most cough meds aren't recommended for kids anymore anyway (let alone babies). A vaporizer will not build up ickies the way a humidifier might.
Keep her warm, keep her hydrated. Good luck!
Is this her first grandchild?
The only thing I can say is, keep repeating your position, keep correcting her when she says "my baby" to "you mean your GRANDbaby," keep doing what you think is best for your son.
Hang in there!
Depends on which part of Dallas. The climate is the same, but the different areas are really, really different. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, sometimes gets snow but more often ice; in the middle of the prairie basically.
So is this a suburban school district, or in the middle of the city?
I'm right there with ya (well, probably my workload is lighter!) But still, I'm exhausted and feel like I'm not making any headway.
I'm trying to figure out how to get some help---either household/cleaning, or a Mother's Helper, maybe both. I don't have any extended family close by, and my childless friends are all super-busy with their own lives. I would hire a teenager, but they're still in school. I considered a nanny agency, and that may yet be the best...
We've moved six times in the last eight years. I wish I could say I've perfected the art, but I haven't. I just had a baby 3 months ago and we moved into our most recent house about 3 months before that. And we went through a hurricane in there, too. :
Nimbus, get yourself a mother's helper. ASAP. Mom, sister, neighborhood teenager, maybe all three! And check into storage spaces; a lot of them run summer specials starting in May or June, sometimes for pay for 2...
Does she take a paci? They make some in new shapes now that you can put on your fingertip; DD2 (born 12.22.08) likes those (well, at least sometimes it helps). Does she suck her thumb? Both of my girls are thumbsuckers.
I agree, give it time. If you have a sling you might try putting her in that and then maybe you could doze in an armchair.
