thanks for all the recipes, everyone! i ended up using ollyoxenfree's rosemary recipe, turned out scrumptious...had to get DH to hide the jar since i kept sneaking into it to "sample". my dad enjoyed them. going to make again.
I need some advice from other baby-led weaning parents.
DS is six months old, and while I know solids aren't necessary yet, I'm interested in starting to introduce them, slowly and gently, for fun. And I know that on-demand nursing is priority, which we will be continuing for a long time still.
I'm convinced that I want to avoid the whole "pureed mush fed to baby with a really cute spoon" route, and the "baby must eat x amount of y by xyz age"...
Our newest fave are all the CDs by Charlotte Diamond (she has a lovely voice). We get ours at the library for a few weeks each.
Also, you might like the group They Might Be Giants. They have two or three CDs for kids.
Any ideas, creative and/or practical, for using glass jars and other reused containers? I have jars of assorted sizes, as well as plastic yogurt containers, margarine containers, etc.
What can I do with them all?
I just wanted to add that I've used prefolds and covers on two kids now, and have NEVER used or owned a pin or a Snappi. I've just always done what you did, fold it in threes and secure it with the cover (I just fan out the top so the back and fronts meet on the baby's hips). Never had a problem. I'd say, forget the Snappis, and just keep it simple. :D
I'm at my wit's end about our night diapering issues! I swear, if I have to change the darn sheets one more time this week...ARGH!
I've used disposables, cloth, and various combinations of both at the same time, and we still getting leaks about 4-5 times per week. At this point, we're using one disposable, with a prefold over it, with a heavy duty cover over that (Kushies, which I don't generally like, but it has decreased the leaks a bit, from daily to *only*...
YES, it's possible! And yes, it's highly annoying.
And I had the same issues with the same covers (Bummis, mesh on the inside, pretty pattern on the outside). It lasted through one baby, just barely, and now I've got Mother-Ease covers and have yet to have a leak (even though I bought them used).
The problem might be the covers themselves, OR if might be a detergent residue issue. Do your diapers also have these "symptoms"?: smelly diapers or covers,...
My cousin recently married a chain-smoking guy (no exaggeration). He smokes in their house and as a result everything smells like smoke, even her.
I'm really bothered by this, since it has affected my relationship with her. I used to like to have her visit us, but am very reluctant to invite her over since I hate the smell of smoke, and don't want to expose my kids to third-hand smoke (and it truly is very strong. I was lying down nursing DS at Xmas celebrations at...
