About 6 months ago at my DS's forst speech therapy appointment, the therapist mentioned that she noticed DS had a slight hand/arm tremor (intention tremor?). It was something I had never really paid much attention to, but after she said this, it seemed more noticable. Fast forward a few months at DS's autism evaluation at the Children's hospital and 2 different specialists also noticed this and made a note in his chart, then the early intervention folks noticed it to. We...
DH came home from work a while after I posted this thread...the doc got back today to him afterall and said the findings of the MRI are "consistant with MS" but he's being sent to the Neurologist next week for a definite diagnoses. We have to wait until Wednesday. I feel like my heart knows it MS.
Last week my DH began having a numbness/tingling/loss of sensation in his lower body. We thought he just pinched a nerve in his back or something and didn't worry much about it until the numbness started in his hands over the weekend very suddenly. He can't hold a fork, button a shirt, put his shoes on, write, nothing. He of course wouldn't go to the ER, like I wanted, but went yesterday to his doctor instead. We were there forever, the doc was calling specialists and...
We are going to be getting two wethers in a few months and I had a question for any of you Nigerian Dwarf goat owners. I understand that Alfalfa hay is best and that wethers don't require much, if any, grain. Is that right? What do you feed your wethers and at what cost? Thanks so much, mamas!
Thank you all for your wonderful and supportive replies. I was able to schedule him another OAE test next wednesday, before the ABR which is scheduled for the 28th. If we do end up having to do the sedated ABR, can I ask what time of the day any of your little ones had it done? Super worried about the whole fasting-for-6-hours-prior thing. We'll be leaving the house around 7:15 am then driving 2 hours to get to the children's hospital by 9:15 check in, then have to wait...
Long story short, 30 month old DS1 has a speech delay which our speech therapist diagnosed as Apraxia last month (oral motor issue). We had the big autism evaluation on Monday and, though they didn't place him on the spectrum, the hearing tests showed some hearing loss in his left ear. Everyone kept asking me if he was ever in an accident or had some other kind of brain injury, or if he had a history of alot of ear infections. Never, never and never. The audiologist...
I had the same feelings as you when DS's pediatrician wanted to get him evaluated. I knew he'd still be my wonderful, sweet, bright boy whether diagnosed or not. We decided to go through with it, mostly because we are on State insurance and need all the help we can get for approval for additional speech therapy, but also because of the window of opportunity you mentioned. It was a 4-5 hour evaluation and as long as your little one is well rested, he will be OK. It's alot...
Sounds just like my DS1! He's 2.5 and was just last month diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech. We have him in Speech therapy, just met with EI 2 weeks ago and just got him evaluated in our state's children's hospital for the Autism Spectrum on Monday. It was a 5 hour evaluation and though they didn't place him on the spectrum, they did discover he had some hearing loss in his left ear. The test doesn't show how severe it is, so we have to go back in one month for a more in...
