my dd had the funk too! it was her oily cradle cap. a gentle wash every few days and olive oil on her head helped her. she also has funky neck folds and behind the ear crud too.... good luck!
i'm a fan of flylady (google it) to get my housework scheduled! it's not too bad. we are nursing and typing one handed right now though... you find new ways of doing things!

i second the opinion of 'when they can roll over' even though i broke that rule with both babies of mine. it's just too darn cold here, and we can't heat the house warm enough to go without blankets. : they are both fine btw, but...
hey! i went to high school there! i would recommend going to the library. it's a nice one, and there's a great playground outside too. it's a good place to meet other parents, plus the librarians can help you find other folks...
