Add me to the list of NO's. It just doesn't sound like there is much chance of it working out well. I think that kind of situation would be hard even if everyone started out on the same page (which your not).
My dad did say he is considering filing a claim against the parents. They did press charges against the kids. My parents house wasn't the only one in the neighborhood that they broke into, either. I have a 12 yr old. Its hard to even picture kids that young doing such a thing.
I would help my parents any way I could in most situations unless there was a really crazy situatuion where they were being completely out of control but I don't see that happening. They have made lots of decisions, financial and otherwise, that I didn't agree with or think were the best but I have helped them anyway. I know they can say the same of me.
I finally got to talk to them when they got here yesterday. They had no minutes left on their cell phone. They said it was a 10yr old and 12 yr old who broke into their house (not long after they left on thier trip home). Can you believe that! They trashed the place apparently, dumping food all over the floors, emptying all the drawers, and breaking stuff. I guess the police recovered their tv's and such. They'll find out more when they get home I...
they are traveling home from Florida for a wedding reception and my neices graduation. They just texted that they are in a tornado, taking shelter in a church. And their house was broken into last night. I texted my Dad I was praying for him and he texted back that they need it. He wouldn't say that lightly. I'm so worried.
